Landships from the Days of Empire line have been proposed for Squat Land Train proxies many times around here. But does anybody know any more about the game setting?
A couple of years ago I emailed the site owner and asked whether I could purchase a beta test copy of the rules (he had discontinued the free test rules offer because he got no feedback) but received no reply. Still, I'd love to find out more.

Hi Mojarn,
The beta set was garbage... tons of matrices that weren't much fun.
John McEwan is a gentleman and a scholar. I can only say good things about him. He's currently away at a show.
"Days of Empire" is sort of a prequel to his "Starguard" world... although it's never been really well developed... I had a deal with him to develop it, but we had to cancel due to some other obligations he had.
I don't recommend the rule set, since it's an unfinished product although the units are certainly ready to be ported to another system!

I should have known you would know something abut this. 
Any more info about the world setting? Or about the weapons/technology?
