Yes, there have been intriguing rumours about series of old GW games being re-released. Dunno how much support those will get and will those be blended as a part of their two biggest games. Those are still rumours and so nothing is confirmed. These are from Warseer.
....
Oh, forgot the Talisman. Its coming out too, as a board game and to computers too.

What you didn't mention is that Talisman IS being released -  Oct 07.  But since it's via Black Industries, via Black Library, it might not be all that noticable when it does come out.  And almost certainly no minitures by the sound it.

Talisman
release info

Can't say I've ever played it, but for 35 quid it'll be worth a go.  A move in the right direction for GW.  But will such things actually appear in their shops, or mostly just in obscure corners of the net along with WHFRP?

Hi!

Gee...

...I feel I should say something....

.... not sure what it is...

...hmmmm......

ah....

... I told ya so.... :D

Jesting aside, epic and SG as a viable company died 10 months after Epic A's release and the infamous "restructuring".

Epic, in any form you choose to play it has since then been purely a fan driven effort.

Embrace the rules, develop the rules you favor and forget about GW. You're on your own.

I should know, I've been doing it for over a decade.... :;):

I know, I plan on still collecting 6mm Sci-fi ... And G/W's Epic is just another one in the bunch.  We play by a modified "living" set of hybrid rules ... so who needs G/W ?! :D

Hi!

With the wealth of 6mm proxies and a motivated 6mm community as we have here, I'd say we need GW VERY little....  :;):

I'm excited about the DRM and E/W minis Doug and Tom are putting out. I'll continue to add those to my 6mm SFWG collection.  And both are releasing rule books too ... So end of story ... :D

Hi- been away for 10 months and come back to find yet more bad news re SG. Am not surpirised but still disapointed.....

As someone said earlier in the thread I would hope that they re-release the plastic Nid infantry. And also they should re-release many of the old metal Chaos/Nid figures. Yes it would complicate their stock control by having more lines in warehouse. But a company the size of GW should be efficient enough to cope.

Even if they just re-released some of the previous best selling Chaos/Nid figures- it would still be extra profit to GW. But then even as an accountant I have often failed to understand GW's decision making.

I also hope this does n't affect the release of forthcoming Battlefleet Mars ships for BFG. Those were previewed at GD 2006 IIRC- I cant remember if they were due to be released end 2007/early 2008. I hope that GW are far enough down the process for these to still be released.

Cheers

James

RE releasing old games eah?
My vote goes for  " Trolls in the pantry"    lol
For those who haven't tried it yet, Talisman is a great game, hugely fun and IMO a good intro game for kids. Just look on ebay at how much the old minis go for...madness

Yep, I remember Trolls in the Pantry. A good friend of mine brought it into vet's night after the full timer had a go at him over showing or talking about some non-GW game or model - caused rather more jumping up and down and screaming at the top of our lungs than the normal games, and the redshirt really couldn't complain - it was a GW game!

Something that might interest you guys:

From Gav Thorpe, answering suggestions to improve GW generally.
Support specialist games. Think of specialist games as extra armies that require support. That's 7-8 extra projects to think about. We are still releasing extra miniatures for these games - the Warmaster Araby army, for example, or the forthcoming BFG Mechanicus ships. However, if we continued the level of support that they had when they were launched, or when Fanatic was at its height, then the question is simple: which Army book would you like us to delay? Also, it is entirely impractical for us to carry the range of specialist games in our stores, or in independents for that matter, due to the sheer size. Being direct-only at least keeps these games available, and is not a deliberate attempt to undermine them. Occasional releases and features in WD will highlight the specialist games and bring them to people's attention.

Within the current depression, the promise of "occasional" releases is a but spark in the darkness.

Oh yeah, here's where it came from:

Yep.  You were right.  As the resident GW cheerleader and fanboy, I was overly optimistic.

I've ordered the sack cloth and ashes so as to be appropriately penitent.  :;):
