A bit of tinkering with the Hierodules... Not perfect but better than before.

Hey, whaddaya mean?  ??? It looks fantastic! :)  If I ever get the chance to do an Epic 'Nid army, i only hope my Heirodules look nearly as good.

Finally for a bit of painted stuff.

One of my main objectives for this army was, that it should be quick and easy to paint. Inspired byMark Logues Nids I chose a scheme for the infantry with a Camo Green basecoat, touched up bone areas in white and then a simple wash of Vallejo's Sepia. Very quick and easy to do. However looking at these test stands I think the scheme might be a bit too simple. The color difference between the green and the bone is a bit to close IMO so I might have to look into diferent shades of green. I don't know if Catachan green might be too dark. Also I'm not really that interested in too vibrant a green which excludes Goblin green, scorpion Green and Snot Green. Some pale greyish camo green might work though I have to check out the store for what they got.
The larger tyranid creatures will of course also have some fleshy bitz painted on to brighten up the scheme somewhat but that's not really much of an option for the basic infantry.

How about trying Blood Angel green? I'm not sure how that compares to Catachan green. Or better yet, maybe IJN green (I think that's the name of it) by Tamiya. Even though they're historical colors, Tamiya has a nice line of paint.

Looks great!

Might I suggest painting the weapons/hooves/claws a different colour than the carapace plates to give some more contrast?

Not sure what colour though...

Blood Angel Green might be a bit... red. Try Dark Angel Green.  :;):  Is Ork Flesh still around as a colour? That was a nice green.

Oops! I did mean Dark Angel green.

I think Ork Flesh was cancelled when GW decided to get rid of "fantasy" colors.

WMN if you're worried about the similarities of the two tones why not re-touch the bone with straight Bleached Bone dry-brush/highlight. This should brighten it up a bit

I tried that on the Warriors. It definitely helpt. ... It is just extra work :p :D :;):
Might be worth it though :;): I'll probably go ahead and paint all the Termagants like those on the pic to begin with.

I think that's an awesome scheme.  Might want some highlights/contrasts of some sort on the bigger War engines, but the infantry and light arty looks tops!

Very nice work all around. I love the glossy look... it's not so much "covered in goo" as "hard smooth beetle shell" look.

As a tyranid player I hope you don't mind me borrowing some of your conversion ideas! :)

Started painting one of the Nid titans. ... Although I still haven't quite decided if this is a Hierophant or a Hydraphant :D :p
