Yes, there have been intriguing rumours about series of old GW games being re-released. Dunno how much support those will get and will those be blended as a part of their two biggest games. Those are still rumours and so nothing is confirmed. These are from Warseer.

Mighty Empires is coming back this summer as a supplement for Warhammer(fantasy battle). Dunno if it is going to get its own stand alone rules. There was Ad in latest WD. Release 11th July.

Man-O-War and Space hulk might also get back, atleast thats what rumours say. First as a addon to Mighty Empires, Warmaster and Warhammer, second propably as a stand alone but no-one knows.

Blood Bowl has also been rumoured to be re-released this year too as it is its 20th birthday or so. New human team was released last year along with one orc starplayer. There should be new figs for some teams, dunno about boxed set.

I dont know if Aeronautica Imperialis is a proof that GW, SG or atleast FW will be doing epic stuff in the future. Along AI there has been few epic related releases. Vampire Hunter, Firestorm, Thunderhawks(?).

I guess GW is trying to keep Lotr alive atleast two more years. By then The Hobbit should enter the widescreen and boost sales up again for a short period. After that, its very likely gone for good.

All those rumours alongside GWs normal release schedule feels way too much. Dunno if those will be done or do those just get a half page in some WDs news sections(as did epic chaos and ME) with flashy red RE-RELEASE stamp on it.

Oh, forgot the Talisman. Its coming out too, as a board game and to computers too.

Out of interest- how much time is left in the LOTR turkey... i mean franchise....

If I remember correctly I think they have the license to 2010.

I thought GW had extended the LOTR contract so they could 'expand' on the background where the original contract had tied them to what was actually in the books

I don't know if they are allowed to expand on the background.  I do know they were originally linked solely to material in the films and then expanded the license to include book material that didn't appear in the films.  (including other ME works like The Hobbit and Silmarillion).

Based on the history of the Tolkien estate, I have doubts that they would give license to create new material, but money talks, so who knows.

My thoughts exactly.

I'd hate to say it but IF GW went back to there rotating third core system for every year I'd welcome it.

Better than nothing :).

The mere fact that these old games sell for lots of money on eBay nowadays, 15 years or more after they came out, should tell GW that people would still buy and play them...  or the existence of this forum... or the FW petition...

I'm hoping they make cool little bitz for the new ME, they showed in a recent W/D ... But as I said, we don't need G/W's support for 6mm SFWG ! :D

That's a given, but I think it helps.

More support => more players => more games => more fun for you and me.
