In the next round of 'Spot the Swansong', how long before the following announcement:

With SG products and items spread across the GW range and buildings, it has been very difficult for us to keep track of the games covered, and give it the support that it requires. Therefore, SG will be moved into the main GW location, integrating it with our core ranges.

Now, when you search for Epic you will find 40K Marines, while searches for Warmaster will result in the Warhammer Giant, searches for Mordheim will result in the Warhammer Giant, searches for... you get the idea.

This means that SG players can now look forward to giving it the attention that we think have wanted to for a while. Obviously, the current level of support in WD will continue, as will our release schedule.

I can just see something similar from GW in the next 6-12 months.

Sigh. ?:(

The white dwarf thing is a laugh - compare to other 'hobbey' mags in house or otherwise. They realise even with a tough audiance they need content as well as previews.

So... which MBA program was it that taught GW's leadership staff that diversification is a bad thing? ???

The part I found interesting is the comment in the report about how GW believes there is room for growth in the US market.

Since that growth would appear to involve opening their own retail stores in markets that independent stockists have proven have a healthy market I really am forced to wonder just how taking sales away from independents counts as growth. Sure, it may increase GW's profits but it's not exactly like it moves more product or actually expands the market.

Smoke and mirrors yet again from the GW board.

Current level of support? Release schedule?

*looks around*

Did I miss something?

If this is what they mean by giving us attention I think I'd prefer that they go back to ignoring SG like they did two or three years ago.

I'm starting to really wonder if they don't have George Orwell writing their press releases... double plus good indeed. ???

 = Epic ... :alien: :D = DRM, E/W, Baccus, GZG, ORGE, BT, etc. ...   I'm not at all upset with the idea of G/W-S/G's support going away.  WE here again with keep 6mm SFWG alive ... with all the companies I mentioned above, and more ... Wouldn't be surprised 3-5 years after G/W-SG's Epic dies for the last time ... we'll be discussing DRM, E/W etc. more than G/W Epic ... IMO  :)

Now in my days I've bought my fair share of GW stuff, including at least 17 armies for 40K and WHFB - I've dropped my amount of purchases over the past years, and since then GW have been doing badly.. makes me wonder  :p  :p  :p

Well. Epic is dead. Good thing I found new game(CWC) to interest me. Atleast that one is not going to get it's support killed off stupidly like Epic.

Well, to (mis)quote these guys (episode 7b): Playing a GW game is like having dinner with your ex-wife. You will probably have a good couple of hours, but you wont be able to forget how much you hate the company.

:D

Epic is not really dead, IMO ... It just melded in the 6mm Sci-fi Wargames Universe along with GZG, DRM, E/Z, Baccus, etc.,etc. ...  We'll keep them all alive here.  I've been gaming/collecting since '90 and I'm sticking with my 10+ Epic Armies and adding to those, DRM, E/W and if O/C does 6mm Slammers ... They'll be in the War Room too ... Tac Cmd is ground 0 for 6mmSFWG !  :D

I wonder if there is the possibility tha the LOTR franchise is running its course and that SG is not getting run down as such, but more re-designed.  After all in the old days there was no SG per se, rather a series of secondary lines that rotated every year or so with a new version.  If You were re-branding lines, you may lower the profile for a while so that the brand seems new and flash to the kiddies knowing that us old hacks will stay on regardless.  The rumourmill over at warseer regarding BFG and Man o War makes me wonder if something is happening there.  Maybe im being overly optimistic here...:)

Out of interest- how much time is left in the LOTR turkey... i mean franchise....
