I didn't feel like painting tonight so I decided to make some blast markers... The question is how many... It's for 3000pt games. I have IG, SM, Orks and Eldar. I will be making 1 count and 5 counts so how many of each..... etc... etc....etc.

Some "broken" counters wouldn't go amiss either.
Dunno... how many units do you usually have in your army? I'd say that might be a good benchmark. I'd say it's unlikely you'll ever need more blast markers than units in your army, even if you are providing the BM for your opponent too.
Something wrong with skittles then?

I'm painting a really nice army for the Epic GT and wanted blast markers to go with it.
I was thinking of going for 20 singles and probably 8 5s. For a total of 60 blasts. it's not as much as 1 for every unit but I doubt you will ever need that many.

Maybe you are right. But you will need loads of broken unit markers! (at least my experience tells me such a thing)

What would you use for broken Unit markers?

Dunno about others but for broken units I tend to go for order dice, got about 6 of them which tends to be enough.

I've decided I'm going to go with the Army Icon broken as if was damaged flooring.

50 (40 Singles and 10 5's) is a good number for up to 10K games I think, so your numbers sound about right.
At 10K we sometimes run out with only 50.

These are what I use for Broken markers. I've started casting them, but still haven't got round to actually painting any... I'll probably make it easy on myself and do a quick drybrushed stone look.
I'm still struggling with Blast markers myself. When you've done yours, I'd love to see them. (and steal your ideas... )
Regards, Reaver

Personally I just made 100s of them as they were quick and easy to make (cotton wool super glued onto washers then shaped using PVA, sprayed black and drybrushed) in two sizes 1s and 5s giving me well and truely enough for me and any oponents in any sized game. Didn't really take long to do and I have never run out even when we played a 45000pt game.
I use the old carbourd markers from one of the earlier editions of the game though looking at Reavers I am tempted to try something more fancy. I have thought about trying to have some guy fleeing on a stand but have never really figured out how to do it justice.
For overwatch I have single infantry models standing on 20mm bases with little hills as lookouts (often hiding behind ruins or trees).

The other cool thing about the washers with cotton wool is they tend to land the correct way up when you toss them over the other side of the table and seem to be very rugged, mine look pretty much like they did on the day I made them and they just get shoved in a big box that travels around in the bottom of my backpack.
_________________ Epic- A version of the game with even smaller models that is often dominated by titans which are vehicles the size of a large building and have the ability to pwn...everything. There is also infantry, whose only function in Epic is to provide valuable traction to Titans walking across snowy paths.

When Litko Aero came out with their orange explosions I bought 21 small ones and 6 large. I've never come close to running out up to 4000 point battles.
That's for one side (around here, everyone brings their own BMs as part of their armies) but I think that number would handle up to ~3K on each side before you started having problems.
