First up, thanks for taking the time to play and report on the Tau. At this stage in development, this kind of feedback is vital. To deal with a few points...

Broadsides: This is an interesting point. 300 points for 6 would put the Broadsides at the same cost as Hellhounds and two of them at the same cost as a Baneblade or Shadowsword. Interestingly, it ould also make them the same cost as a Marine Dreadnought. This may need a new thread...

All opinions are welcomed. If you feel that the Tau are over-powered then I would rather that this came out now rather than a year later. That said, I still need to be convinced about this. With Orks, I would expect them to charge in, against most Tau units they are likely to cut through them in close combat, but I cant see any actual close combat in your report. I would guess that this is because most of the Tau units in the ABC force are able to escape... is this the case?

I do understand what you mean about "All it may take is a subtle change to fix things, but something does need to be fixed."

I wonder if the low close combat values are being over compensated by the abundance of skimmer and jet pack units in the force. I am open to comments on this.

I also agree with Soren in the theming of the units, and this has been happening. Many of the Tau units were bristling with weaponry, and I think that this actually counts against the force in the long run. Part of my aim with things like the Skyray, Fire Warriors and others is to focus the stats to define them better. That said, I do think that the Crisis suits are actually working fine right now and are fairly well represented, so I would hesitate before making any changes to them.

Oh, this thread is probably a better place for comments.

Certainly on a wider note the 'feel' of the army for them is interesting, I agree that its an 'easy' army in that everything is specialised in a way we understand (not like eldar) - it is as CS pointed out the closest to a modern army and therefore something most are familar with.

That very very short learning curve I think is hard to deal with in playtesting as fans tend to playtest an army, and once you get used to fighting a force you metagame to some extent for it.
