Going through my batrep backlog and thought I'd post this one next.

A Titan heavy Yme-Loc list vs a tank heavy Steel Legion list... let's see who's got the mettle!

Battlefield:

4x6
Yme-Loc chose edge deployment.

Deployment:

Aspect Troupe 2 was kept in reserve in the Webway.

Yme-Loc had no garrisons.

Steel Legion placed the Infantry Company in garrison off of their Blitz and put them on overwatch.

Turn 1

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: Yme-Loc

The Nightwings flit down to fire on Artillery Battery 1, skewering 1 Manticore and causing the other two to break.

Artillery Battery 2 responds by sustaining fire with 2 Manticores against the Windriders; 2 Jetbikes and 1 Vyper are trashed and they break as well and they flee forward to Guard Objective 1

Aspect Troupe 2 mounts up and marched along the Eldar left flank.

The Thunderbolts take an intercept mission on the Nightwings and actually down one of the agile Eldar craft!

The Swords of Vaul Warhost doubles forward, popping up to do 1DC damage to the lead Shadowsword of the Superheavy Company.

Superheavy Platoon 1 tries to double into trouble, but only gets in trouble, making a single move and keeping a Blast marker.

The Revenants leap forward on a double, jumping from cover to cover.  The Infantry Company unleashes their overwatch to no effect and the lithe Eldar Titans do 1DC to Baneblade 1, breaking Superheavy Platoon.

Superheavy Platoon 2 advances to fire on the Revenants, but do no damage.

Aspect Troupe 2 marches out of the Wraithgate and takes cover in the Bastion near the Tank Factory.

The Superheavy Company tries to double, but fails, holding firm and regrouping.

The Warlock Titan bounds forward on a march, taking cover near Guard Objective 2.

The Tank Company doubles and unleashes hell on the Warlock, managing to pierce Holofields and armour to do 2DC damage!

End of Turn

All Yme-Loc formations rally.

Artillery Battery 1 and Baneblade 1 fail to rally for the Imperials.

The Avatar appears!

Strategy Roll: Steel Legion? OH OH!

The Superheavy Company sustains fire on the Warlock, doing 3DC damage and a critical that drops its Holofields?

The Tank Company performs the coup de grace destroying the crippled Warlock with sustained fire.  *sigh*

In a fit of vengeful rage the Warp Spiders engage the intermingled Infantry Company and Baneblade 1? it us a pyrrhic victory as the Eldar win, losing 3 Warp Spiders in the process and only killing 2 Guardsmen!  Still it is a victory? by "1".


The Swords of Vaul Warhost advances on the Tank Company and takes out 2 Hellhounds and 2 Leman Russ.

Preparing for sweet revenge the Avatar prepares to engage the Tank Company? and then for some reason doesn't!  (*SIGH*)  He snaps off a shot at them for no damage and sits down in the ruins and sulks.

Artillery Battery 2 sustains fire, with 1 Manticore, on the broken Warp Spiders and wipes them out completely.

The Revenants double to catch the Tank Company in a crossfire and pierce 2 more Leman Russ? the Tank Company has 11 members left? and 10 Blast markers?


Baneblade 2 sustains fire on the Swords of Vaul Warhost and knocks out both Firestorms.

Aspect Troupe 1 doubles to the Guard Blitz and puts a Blast marker on Artillery Battery 2.

The Thunderbolt Squadron performs a ground attack on the Windriders, but scores no hits.

The Nightwings stand down, clearing their Blast markers.

The Windriders *try* to double, but fail, breaking in consternation?

End of Turn

The Windriders fail to rally? as does the Russ Company, teetering on the edge of being broken?

The Revenants sustain fire on the Tank Company, still in crossfire, and destroy 2 Russ and the Commissar-manned Vanquisher, breaking the mighty tank formation.

Aspect Warhost 1 engages Artillery Battery 2 and wipes it out.


The Swords of Vaul advance to pursue the Tank Company and trash 1 Hellhound, 1 Hydra, and 1 Russ? but there are still tanks left!

The Superheavy Company advances to fire on the Revenants, catching them in a crossfire and doing 1 DC damage, but placing 3 Blast markers.

The Nightwings ground attack the Tank Company taking out another Russ, but one of the Eldar planes is shot down by the Infantry Company's Hydra!

The Thunderbolts ground attack Aspect Troupe 1 killing 1 Dire Avenger and 1 Swooping Hawk.

Baneblade 1 tries to turn around with an advance, but fails and shoots at Aspect Warhost 1 knocking down a Wave Serpent and breaking the Aspect Warriors.

The Infantry Company rallies, firing on the Aspect Troupe, taking out a Dire Avenger and then clears 5 Blast markers.

Baneblade 2 sustains fire on the Swords of Vaul, taking out a Falcon and the Farseer, breaking the grav-tank formation?

End of Turn

The surviving Aspect Troupe and Sword of Vaul fail to rally.

And it's just as bad for the Steel Legion as Baneblade 1, the Infantry Company, and the broken Tank Company all fail to rally.

Strategy Roll: Yme-Loc

The Revenants attempt to double after the Tank Company?but fail.  So they fire on the Superheavy Company instead? Shadowsword 2 takes 3DC and is destroyed? the Commissar's Shadowsword takes 1DC? and then explodes!  The last Shadowsword is well and truly broken?

The Thunderbolts ground attack the Windriders and wipe out the ineffective little Eldar bikers.

The Infantry Company advances to put the Revenants in a crossfire? but do no damage.

Baneblade 2 then sustains fire on the Revenants, also with a crossfire and does 2DC breaking the smaller Eldar Titans!

The Nightwings call it a night and stand down.  *SIGH*

Baneblade 1 advances after Aspect Troupe 1 and kills a Swooping Hawk?

End of Turn:

The Aspect Troupe and Swords of Vaul rally? but both are just shy of being on the Imperial side of the battlefield.

All Imperial formations except the shattered Tank Company rally.

Steel Legion 2 (BTS, TSNP *barely*) vs Yme-Loc 1 (TSNP)

Because the use of such a device during war is an abomination that only Biel-Tan stoops to in their misguided attempts at reclaiming the Ancient Days...

ok a fluffy reason, thats cool :)

yes i have also found the not making those +3 saves before you get to use your super killy titan of death can be a little bit anoying!! :laugh:  :p

I *really* wanted to see the Warlock obliterate the Tank Company... *laugh*  I was all set up for an awesome assault with the Warlock, Avatar, and Swords of Vaul...

...and then I didn't go first... *laugh*

hummmmmmmmm?

maybe the answer to the problem is to use the rules for a Gate of Vaul in the Yme-Loc list in the normal? would that be broken?

i've all ready got a few ideas for my Gate Of Vaul!

I really don't think the Gate of Vaul should be used in the "standard" Biel-Tan list, but should be reserved for Lugganoth and Yme-Loc as one of their "specials" in Tournament play.

Certainly in other scenarios the Gate of Vaul would be an excellent addition!
