So... For reasons of personal insanity I can't quite articulate I've decided I want to see if I can assemble a Vassal mod for playing Epic. Now, I have all the artistic ability of a monkey hooked on crack, so I'd like some help from you folks. Here's the deal: Vassal is essentially a basic table-top simulator, good for board games and miniatures. But it requires externals for basically all graphics, has some fancy overlaying stats functions and many other things. Anyway... Here's basically what I'm looking for:

1. Units. Top-down preferably shots of various models and/or hand drawn stuff to represent them. If it's artwork PLEASE make sure it's original or public use. I don't want to have someone complain about us stealing their art. For models a straight top-down shot would be good, I'd like to get mostly rectangular bases for models, as  that makes sizing easier if they're all of roughly the same base size.

2. Terrain. This one's gonna be similar. Basically top-down shots of some things which can be used as hills, trees, and similar items. Sadly, Vassal only has a 2-D board. So some imagination will have to be used for trees. Buildings are also good. Again, models or artwork would both work.

3. Order Markers/Blast Markers. Something to represent these would be good. I usually use glass beads, and can make something simple up like some basic red dots or something for Blast Markers. But some scanned order markers would be very nice to have, for purposes of noting which units have done what and who's broken/on overwater/whatever.

4. Templates. If anyone has a functional scanner, a scan of the templates would be much appreciated. I'll try to figure out how to scale them to the same size as everything else (Since the stuff here is almost certain to be smaller then normal, for the sake of ease of looking at the board).

There's probably more I'm missing. Any of the above would be much appreciated.

I think I actually have the DE files on my hard drive somewhere. I'll have to go looking for them. And I probably will use them! They're a neat army list after all. And my aim is to get as many of the official and WiP lists as I can manage.

There shouldn't be much need for programming. The Vassal game engine has its own internal mod-making system. So doing that should be the (relatively) easy, if tedious, part. Mostly I just need stuff to do it WITH.

I've kicked vassal around a good bit, and enjoyed its mod-making capabilities.  I'll look forward to your mod, and I'd be happy to do some work on it...

Did anything ever come of this project? Did you put an Epic mod together? I'd love to see it.  :)

How is it going? I'd love to play some of the board members overseas :)
