I don't know how many people are familar with Wizkids and their collectable miniature games.

Those that know me know I curse the concept and despise the whole "lets make it more expensive becacuse it's rare"  idea.  Blah!!!!

Now I was working on my own mechs recently (the metal ones you paint not the pastic clicky crap) when my son came down the basement.  He was very excited seeing the mechs.  Of course he wanted to play with them with I didn't let him.  He was cute when asking about them so I let him hold one and when he was returning it to the table he knocked another over.  A little glue later and the piece that fell off was back on, but I know I was being tested.

I was in the hobby store yesterday and I noticed the Mechwarrior kits were 40% off.  I figured hey this might me a nice buffer between my mechs and my little boy.  :D

So I got two boxes, took at the smaller stuff and made sure nothing was easily broken off and my son was quite pleased to get two mecha and two heavy tanks.   I was a popular daddy!   :p

I did notice one the the mechs ad a grey base, thats was odd.  With a little research later...

I find it completely ironic that the first blister I purchase for Mechwarrior would contain a super rare....

Ebay Link

This is not my auction...I am laughing out loud to the fact that I gave a super rare to a 3 year old.  I thought you guys may find it amusing as well.  I'm sure there is a colelctor out there cursing my name right now.

My son is very happy with his "robots"  worth a lot more than 25 bucks.... :D

That is ironic. I love it when things like this happen.

I like your thinking though - I'll have to grab some cheap Mechwarrior clicky-base junk for my 4 year old to play with.  The he'll have lots of "robots" to play with his Hot Wheels.

Good looking mech.  Mech-clicks seemed like a good game but none of us were prepared to buy enough packs to have enough choice to build anything other than a pretty random force.

Actually, the game is not that good.  I got some of the stuff in an effort to get my group to play *some* Battletech.  We played a game, thought the rules crap, and decided to get back into regular Battletech.

The rules were too abstract for my tastes.  If they could have made it with more clear rules and a better flow to the turn sequence then I think the game would be better.

Battle Report:  Hotwheels vs Mecha

Location: Child's bedroom, Bedtime

The mechs and hot wheels had a huge clash last night.  There was a lot of raming and general Mayhem.  For some strange reason the mechs refused to use their  guns and keep charging the fast cars.

The after actions report from the field was vague with mechs and wheels all over the place.  It was total carnage!

Congrats CC!

Your 3 year old has grasped Battletech perfectly! Or at least Battletech the way we seem to end up playing anyways...

Thanks for the battle report. :D

Hi Luis,

Only one word can truly describe the joy your little one must have had:

AWESOME!

Love hearing these kinds of stories!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Now if THIS isnn't a brilliant idea... Why didn't I think of it?    My 6 year old loves robots. He's got the manual dexterity needed to be a good model builder but he's still a tad too careless for me to trust him with a hobby knife.

This would keep him off my epic stuff.

It shows that great minds think like, I did something similar with my son too (only no super rare for him) and good results also. ?In fact between DnD collectables and Mech stuff my lead and fragile collection has fared well of late (and thanks to all who have contributed!)  :)

You may be unsuprised to hear that Gozilla fared better than hotwheels in a matchup against the Mech.  :;):  ?
LRM20s and Particle Projector Cannons are apprently no match for stomping and atomic fire breath. ?After vanquishing the mechanical foe, the big Lizard suitably trashed the rest of the room (simulating Tokyo naturally) and then dissappeared into the sea (most accurately modelled by the bath) ready for reappearance in a sequel. ?

Not quite a Toho production but classic Kaiju action nontheless!
