I prefer rolling 1D6 per DC remaining.  This way the bio-titans regeneration can be overpowered when it is almost dead.

It was to prevent a miraculous regenerations. Eg. Hierophant with 5DC damage suddendly jumps up with no damage. And that part I agree and thus not want to go back to 1 dice per DC.

Yes, no more miracle cures for the Bugs... it just frustrated the heck out of opponents.

Tyranid "Titans" are cheap for their DC, but easier to kill, I think that's just a balance/compromise we need to accept.

Yep makes sense to me  :)

How about making regeneration an ability, as it was proposed?
We could also add a number with it :
regeneration(2) would mean that you roll 2 dice

How about rolling dice to regenerate equal the 1/2 the starting DC rounded up?

So a Dom rolls 3, a Hydra 4, a Hiero 3, a Tyrgon 2 etc..?

Keeps some consistency with my suggestion for spawn values too.

I would keep regenerates on 5+ if this was adopted.

Er... this is how Regeneration currently works...

Am I missing something?

Because of hierodules rolling 2 dice, which seems to be a bit high

Yeah but a change to 1 dice seems a bit low...

It's a minor quirk of the rules. Not in the same category as (for instance) the fact that 4BP kills twice as much as 3BP.

I agree that it's just a minor quirk of the rules.

Are people really having their Hierodules and Trygons last long enough for this to make a difference?  Mine almost always die in their first assault... *sigh*

Well it's a probality of .66 vs .33 so on a percentage level it's not low. It's very high infact. What it means is that most likely 2DC critter is dead or full health. And that feels just wrong. I would make that round down.

2DC creatures would still only be rolling 1 die whether you round up *or* down: half of 2 = 1, so I'm not sure what you're getting at here Hena.

I'd just use the 40k Tyranid regeneration rules.
