I can't really understand what's the problem with rules review anymore. I mean that if  Greg doesn't have time to make that semi official thing, could someone do it for him? If someone else has the files to generate the rulebook pdfs from, then it would be easier to do. Worst things are the situations where things are hanging off a one person and nothing is happening. Frankly there should be backups for everyone ... All I want to have the review done instead of hanging in limbo.

There is already people in french forums making their own rules reviews as nothing seems to be happening in official forums. And that is saying a bit about the situation.

Exactly. Progress is required.

When things previously ground to a halt, an Epicomms rules review started here a while ago. It was stopped at the request of Pixelgeek, who promised that the actual rules review was underway again. I'm not surprised the French have finally given up waiting though.

I think poeople will complain if
1) They don't agree :)
2) It leaves things in the game they don't like (say like sniper working on CC and FF values).
3) It has new stuff.

But otherwise all the complaining could be printed out and used for fuel in winter.

Something I encountered chatting to people saturday not everyone is convinced that their data is appriciated or listened to, putting them in a negative frame of mind to start with.

You will probably get people upset with the garrisons rule depending on how it turns out, the AA intercept rule or at least the upset to current fighters :) and the hit allocation rules vs shielded we. In other words the current arguements. Plus then things like transports cxapturing objectives and so on.

Something to note is that no-one knows exactly what the suggestions will be (just what could be), which is somewhat curious, why no word file or forum post draft, it is supposed to be an open style of development after all.

I'm somewhat concerned about this too... Glane seems to play everything close to his chest.

Our play group gave up on E:A and we've decided to go back to NetEpic fully now, so the demise just means no more new GW minis.  No skin really, EW and DRM are producing the figures we really need now anyway.  It would be nice to see the Chaos and 'Nid range re-introduced though.

Good for you, Zap. That's the beauty of NetEpic. All armies have lists and the rules are complete. I can understand why you and your gave up on E:A.

I bear an official message from Greg Lane: "Don't panic!"  He wanted to assure everyone that it will be a few weeks (note that puts us in March, not April or May), but the progress will be posted on the SG site shortly.  This is not only for the Rules Review but for the Black Legion.

In other words, relax, put on some Carpenters, chill with a cup of Ginseng, know that March is only a couple nights away, feel the love of community, pet your cat, and watch some cool Battlestar Gallactica episodes. :)

Well, as far as models go ... DRM is going to release 'Bugz this year ... and between DRM & E/W, I'm guessing some Chaos-like forces will be released.  Rules ... I only use them as a guide anymore ... pretty much always have ...  And DRM & E/Wars are releasing rules in the future. I think we should not be so worried about Epic "official Dogma" ... if there is such a thing ...  But as always - DWWFY ...  :;):

I believe that it will be posted one final time - although I don't believe it will be for discussion purposes.  More for a preview as it goes across the pond to Andy and Jervis for a final seal.

At least it will give everyone a chance to proof it for spelling, grammer, coherency, etc.  That way we don't end up with a work that looks like 5th graders did it.

On a side note, I know one of the guys that was working on E:A.  He proofed the ENTIRE document and handed it over to Jervis.  Jervis then responded with a 'thanks but we have to go with our own in-house editors' and you can see how well that went.

Nice to know the education system is failing in England as well as the US.   :p  :;):

Listening to the complaints of fans while being unable to do anything because of the financial situation would definitely make me feel disillusioned about my job.

I'm not trying to start an argument on GW's financials but I for one can't really buy into that comment WMN.

IMNSHO the only reason GW is in the position it's in right now is because they over-committed themselves to the LotR line.

Now they appear to be compounding the issue by looking for "the next big thing" rather than returning to their original business model that got them where they are today... namely catering to more than just their core line hobbyists.

Certainly SG may not be the cash cow that the LotR licence was for a brief period but on the other hand they:

a) Thought it was worth committing to originally, and;

b) At least in the case of E:A seriously blew past their original sales targets which were presumably set to do more than break even.

Everything I've read in the last few months to me anyways still indicates GW is just going to continue chasing the dragon in the form of a new large line rather than try and retrench themselves with some sort of version of what provably worked before...

Which is unfortunate because when your essentially the market mover for the hobby you can do a lot of damage to the hobby as a whole while your flailing.

I could be mistaken, but that's not what I got from WMN's comment.

It sounded to me like he was refering to the financial constraints GW placed on SG rather than SG's actual profits.

Andy, whether he bent over backwards or just phoned it in (I'm not claiming either), could only accomplish so much within those limits, and that had to be frustrating.

Oh I wan't really concerned with GW's finances. It was more on a personal level that I was trying to put people in Andy's shoes. God knows how many emails he'll have to answer daily complaining about how this or that Specialist Game doesn't get the level of support they feel it deserves. I mean: That gotta start get on your nerves at some point - especially if you're the only guy directly involved in that line of GW's business. From that perspective I think it is quite understandable that he might want to get ?involved in other side projects besides SG.
It is not much fun working with both hands tied behind your back you know :;):

Hehe... I think the miscommunication here is you gentleman are looking at it from a personal perspective of the people involved and I'm looking at it from the faceless corporate perspective.

To borrow a direct quote from one of Wizards of the Coast former VP of Sales that I think applies here "We just don't give a s**t."

I'm not blaming either Andy or Jervis for what happened to SG over the last couple of years WMN.

I have no doubt what so ever that the way things were handled with regards to SG in it's entirety is not what either one of them would have wished to occur.

And for that same reason I look at Andy appearing in WD as more evidence that the powers that be at GW really just don't give a crap about SG anymore.

Maybe I'm just Primarch level cynical but I doubt Mr Hall had much choice in the matter. Andy is still an employee... he goes where he's told and does what he's told or he becomes free to pursue exciting personal interests elsewhere.

And in this case it appears in this case what he's been told to do is help peddle the core lines to the masses.

Having him support lines that GW as an entity appears to have written off doesn't help GW's bottom line. Which from a business standpoint even if I don't agree with... and I don't... I can still understand in the abstract.
