O.K. here we go this is my first complete detachment with all possible upgrades. ?I tried to do the Legion marking, but my freehand is not good enough yet, so I will visit that option later.

Good paintjob but....the Vindicator was invented after the heresy.

IIRC ... the Vindy was used during the Horus Heresy (H/H) ... Yes, in Codex Titanicus; pg.34 ", ... the Vindicator ... designed by Loyalist Forces ... the clearance of Stahlenburg ... the forces of Horus copied the design, and within months used by both sides."
According to the SM1 "ARMY List" the only SM AFVs used during the H/H were Rhinos, Raiders, Whirlwinds, Vindys, Predators, and CI's. ?W/D issue 119 also tells of the Spartan, a heavy version of the L/Raider to transport Terminators. Also in W/D issue 120, the Sabre Tank Hunter is also introduced. An Assault Gun version of the Rhino with and auto cannon mounted in the front hull like a Sturmgeschutz III/IV or SU-85 ... ?Both also were used during the H/H. ?I've made models of both and posted pics here before. And they serve with my SM Rgts ... :) Spartan rules, increased AR, but we normally don't even count that ... it's just an other L/Raider. ?Sabre = Rhino w/auto cannon and points added ... easy !  No Razorbacks or T/Hawks during the H/H, but G/W may have done "Orwellian New Speak" somewhere and may have changed that ?

In the Horus Heresy books the introduce the T-hawk, but say that it was new and not as abundant as the stormbirds.  Using the EA rules I will have to do some tweaking, but will try to stay as close to Pre Heresy as possible, without losing the ability to field a well rounded army.

Wow those are awesome!! Excellent detail you've achieved there, not just black lining to differentiate detail but highlights on the edges of the shoulder pads and stuff also.

One tiny thing - paint the inside of the vindi barrel black - or preferably drill it out and then paint it black.

I knew something did not look right. ?I was able to drill out the barrels no problem, and managed not to really mess up the paint job on the end of the barrel. ?

These guys took me about 8 hours to finish. ?I am not sure what an average time would be to paint these, but I think all in all they came out like I was hoping. ?Thanks for the comments guys, it really seems to be keeping me motivated to get more accomplished.

Yes, I always paint a black dot on the ends of barrels ...  if I don't drill them out.  How else will the bullets come out !?  :laugh:   And I'm not surprised, that they "New Speak"'d the T/Hawk and even the Stormbird (?) ...  they rewrite the fluff frequently ... too often ! IMO !  But that being said, you could still have a strong force with the SM AFVs in the SM1 List ...  And they had Drop Pods, Dropships, Jet Bikes, Bikes, Speeders, Tarantulas, Rapiers, Mortars, T/Guns, Dreads and Robots ...  So I think you could kick some butt with those units ... I know I could and did !  :D

Great work PLM - nice scheme, great job. The Vindies are great too, and they existed in the old Adeptus Titanicus rulebok, when marine fought marine etc... I'd not worry about their presence pre-Heresy.
