Well the above event now appears on GW's event calendarer.

3000 points, 6 games over the weekend of 19 -20th May. Yes the week before the WPS CC!

I'm really torn now, don't think I can get away with two consecutive weekends. So do I support the offical Epic GT or stick with my booking for the WPS.

What are other's plans?

What's the WPS?  Sorry, I know little about the tournament scene.

From the GW events page:
Details: Compete for the title of 2007 EPIC Grand Tournament Champion. They need a fully painted 3,000 pts EPIC Army and play six games over the weekend. Points are awarded for gaming and there is a special award for the Best Painted Forces. Tickets cost ?50, and include lunch on both days, an evening meal on the Saturday night, Tea & Coffee at the start of both days and Doughnuts to get you started on Saturday morning. If you do not wish to take part in this tournament feel free to come and watch the players in action.

No info on armylists yet, but tickets go on sale on the 10th from Mail order, so it might be worth ringing them to ask for a rules pack.
Regards,
Reaver

I'd go to a GW Epic GT rather than a third party tournament, even if inferior, just to show support for Epic.

Sorry really should have put some links in here!

WPS is the Warhammer Players Society. An indepentent group of people that organise various tournaments for most of GW's game systems as well as others.

As to lists no details but going on last years call to arms any official. No vault.

This is a real head banger. There has been Epic at the CC ever since EA came out and we have maintained a good number of players.

The CC is also a good opportunity to meet up with players from other clubs and generally have a good laugh.

The GW GT (there is a WPS GT) has been moved from one end of the calender to the other and I really wonder if this is an attempt to disrupt the numbers at the CC. I will try to make both of them but the CC is more fun.

Tim

We had to pay ?50 last year and got a good turn out. I am just concerned that as there has been very little advertising and infact warning we will not get many players.

I think the date issues was brought about by GW dropping the SG tournament and running games alongside over 40k based weekends. The Epic GT is being run alongside a 40k campaign weekend so that dictated the date.

I think we should be happy we have an official tournament, lets face it there is nothing listed for Necro, Mordheim, warmaster or BFG. Well done to all those who have reminded the events team we still exist!

There were 14 epic players at the CC last year and 17 went to CTA.

Lets face it Tim, we know @ 70% of the active Epic tournament crowd will be at Full Scale Assault in Feb. I'm trying to promote as hard as I can (3 forums, all have this now listed or will have :)). The timing sucks big time, but at least they know we are still here.

But that Epic GT cost is 50 pounds! How on earth do they expect to get players with that price? Nothing in here costs that much. Biggest events are priced (Fanatic Helsinki and Lahti as well as Ropecons tournaments) 20 - 30 euros (and they are 40k and Fantasy Battle tournaments).

I'd agree with Tim, ?50 is normal and people seem happy to pay that. ?When our facilities are up and running in France (when we can overcome the delays we're experiencing and get there! ), I think our rates will be in the region of 50-75% on top of that, but it'll include accomodation.

In fact, with all the Epic events taking place in the UK this year I've probably chosen the wrong time to leave the UK! ?:;): ?:D

But I hope that everyone who goes - as Mephiston says, mostly the same people as usual! - has a great time at them, I wish I could be there. ?:)

I'm planning on doing the Club Challenge as....

1) It's a better date for me
2) It's cheaper
3) Good atmosphere with all the other players
4) The Dudley Darklords are attempting to enter a team this year

I would have liked to have gone to the GW one to show support for Epic, but the events always seem to be on at a bad time for me.

Can I suggest you drop an email to the events team at GW just to let them know that had the Epic GT been on another date you would have attended.

I'm really concerned that if we don't show continued interest it will allow them to not bother next year.

I've nearly decided that I don't need a summer holiday this year, 2 nights in the travellodge in Nottingham will do just fine  :O
