OK... as part of my Blood angels, I'm trying to do some tactical marines, but don't want them to look plain against the assault marines.
So I thought having the new backpacks would look nice.
Here is my first trial. What do people think? Does it look wrong?

Id agree. Nice sculpting, but the exhausts look too much like jump packs

hehe, i thought so too... took a short cut and didn't want to make the blobs at the end and used the end bits of the epic banner poles

rather than try to sculpt blobs "wet" on the sides of the packs, you could make them as seperate parts. Sounds odd, but I'd have thought it easier to do.
Roll sets of tiny balls of GS, and put them on greaseproof paper to dry. If you softly push them onto the paper, it will both hold themin place & provice a pair of flat edges - one to glue onto the pack & one as the exhaust edge.
Once dry, glue them in place.
Just a thought. I've not made them this way myself, but its one of those sculpty things that just sprang to mind - let me know if it works!

hehe. I took the easy way out and just pushed a blob on the end. Looks more like a telephone, but was hoping these to be simple.
