Resolutions? This year I won't even bother. I failed all of my previous resolutions.

OTOH I managed to lose weight by discovering a hidden cache of self-discipline.  :alien:

And I managed to get my name on the cover leaf of a book.  :;):

OK, maybe a single one: I will buy and build a Deathsaurer.

That's how I lose weight ... that hidden cache of self-discipline ... and I use it for other things too !  It served me well in my previous career ... And I use it to work out 1? or 2 hours a day ... But I don't know if resolutions are actually a Wish List ...

First thing that came to mind was some sort of 'death dinosaur', and a quick google turned up:

I think that's the beastie!

Well I like it - especially if it gets retrofitted with more clockwerkx, tesla coils and  sparky bits!

I obviously agreed with that motto, Tas ! :D ?Leaving for the gym shortly ... I normally fast before I go workout ... Good way to help with fat lose ! ? ?And the Death Saurer looks like a Necron version of Godzilla !

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to call these resolutions, more targets which I hope I can acheive.  Here they are:

Gaming related -
1. Finish my Epic Iron Warriors, and at-least start on another Epic Army.
2. Finish my 40k Imperial Guard army; if I get this done in good time (i.e. well before our baby arrives!) I will reward myself with another speed paint challenge, this time Chaos Marines
3. Finish painting my UW Syntha before we move to France.

Non-gaming related -
1. Work hard to get our property ready in France for b&b/holiday cottage letting, plus everything ready for the Wargaming side of it.
2. Try my hardest to improve my French, including participation in French speaking forums (the first I'll not have much choice about, the latter will take more courage...)
3. Be a doting daddy to our baby when he/she arrives at end May/early June :D
4. Write and submit a 40k short-story to a 40k Fanzine, before we go to France...

I've learnt from last year that it's good to set yourself targets which are down to your own motivation and self-discipline; of course, you can't always allow for everything that's likely to happen!

Firestorm - best wishes indeed for No 3 (non gaming related): you'll find that one easy to achieve!

Hi Firestorm,

Firestorm:
3. Be a doting daddy to our baby when he/she arrives at end May/early June

I'm with Tas! Mazel Tov and congratulations!

I'm busy writing my resolutions to publish later today before the New Year.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Thank you both! :D ?My fiancee and I are both looking forward to it, though I think she'd prefer it was sooner - morning sickness is getting her down big-style :( ?We should find out what sex it is on Friday, which we're looking forward to - we're both convinced it's a boy! :D  If anyone can suggest any names, we're a bit stuck...

Anyway, I've been thinking and on top of my original list I do have a couple of things which would seem more appropriate as resolutions than personal targets:

1: lay off my Ebay-Epic habit
2: read more.

Simple, but sticking to them's the test, ha! :D

Hi Guys,

I'm still coming up with 2007 New Years Resolutions, but here are my thoughts and ideas so far:

PROFESSIONAL / BUSINESS / FINANCIAL:
- Get the next promotion in my career path by the end of the year.
- Pay off all my outstanding consumer debts by the end of the year and go debt-free (My car's already paid off and almost everything else).
- Work out a new schedule with my new boss to get out early on Wednesdays so can join the guys for gaming again.

PERSONAL:
- Go on at least 4 to 6 dates.
- Add at least 50 to 150 sit-ups, crunches or other abdominal exercises to my gym work-outs.
- Buy a new bed frame and mattresses.

HOBBY:
- 6mm urban terrain structure bases of at least 1'x1' area or more.
- Run a Monster Island game using the new urban terrain.
- But a new digital camera that works well for miniatures photography.
- Finish at least one new Epic-Armageddon unit for any of my Epic armies.
- Finish at least one 10mm ASQL army.
- Finish at least one unit for my 28mm Undead Pirates army.
- To not be stingy and spend money on hobby things that I really want that are within budget.

--------

*** Anyone have any ideas for me? ***

*** Or comments on my thoughts and ideas so far? ***

Shalom,
Smelchak-Smelchak.

Hmmm..... resolutions, well, I am not going to bother with the whole drink less, eat healthier and have relationships that last more than a week as they would be failed before jan had ended. Instead, here are some easier, and more realistic goals.

1) Become a MS SQL Server 2005 MCTS, i'm woefully outdated, still working on legacy SQL Server 2000 platforms at the moment.

2) Increase my C# knowledge, potentially to an exam level if my parent company wishes to fund it. (I.E I can justify it with as a business requirement).

3) Enhance the EPICentre, we've made huge strides, but i'd like a more wiki like structure where trusted people would be able to edit it directly. However, the security issues there are a nightmare, and we'd have to have quite a strict level of moderation.
