Yep, SGT C, my Grunts in all my 6mm Armies suffer from the "Dreaded Need to be Painted" Virus ! I'm stuck by wanting to do too much detail !  And too many other models to do !  C/C for numbers ... I use very small Decals ... as you have seen on my stuff !         They need to make model of those "Hot" Female Cylon toasters !  :D

Well guys the Capital ships from Ravenstar Studios arrived and they are just awesome.

While I have little experience working with resin models these are as good as FW. ?Clean up took about 20 minutes per ship with only a few bad spots and casting bubbles.

Here is my colonial Fleet. ?The big brute is called the Atlas class Battlestar.  It is just wicked.

I know I know it painting...You slave drivers... :D

I'm glad you saw these first Tas. ?Happy new year almost!

Considering I will most likely get these killed I was thinking of naming them after battlestars mentioned in the series but not in the show.   I would feel nbad if Galactica got blown up under my command.

Maybe

Acropolis ?- Big guy
Pacifica
Rycon
Triton

For more pics see here

More BSG pics

I sure hope I don't ruin these guys when I paint them

Well shucks, thanks!

I thought about killing off THE Galactica earlier too, so did some digging. ? The eight battlestars specifically mentioned in the 1978 Original Series are:

Atlantia - destroyed by the Cylons at Cimtar (Saga of a Star World)

Acropolis - mentioned in connection with the attack at Cimtar, and so assumed to be one of the battlestars seen near the moon

Columbia - destroyed prior to the events at Cimtar (The Gun on Ice Planet Zero)
Galactica

Pacifica - mentioned in connection with the attack at Cimtar, and so assumed to be one of the battlestars seen near the moon

Pegasus - presumed destroyed at the Battle of Molecay (The Living Legend)

Rycon - destroyed at the Battle of the Cosmara Archipelago (Take the Celestra)

Triton - mentioned in connection with the attack at Cimtar, and so assumed to be one of the battlestars seen near the moon

Hows that for authentic but removing you from the possibility of slaying all those TV heroes? :-)

I sure hope I don't ruin these guys when I paint them

Personally I would just give them a dark wash and a light grey drybrush with a very little detailing only.

Awesome mate - I have to have some now, thanks a lot! ?:p ? ?
What were the other manufacturers of BSG minis you mentionedat the SCN forum?

Tas are you saying I'm "forcing" you to buy minis... :D

I say I'm being falsly accused... :D ?

Well anyway the three maufactueres that I am aware of are

Ravenstar Studios:

He made the ships above. ?I also got a sample of his Original Series ships and in some cases I think they look even better than the ones above. ?

RS Link

Bergstrom Studios:

They do minins in metal and I here they are qute good. ?I ordred my fighters from them. ?The service and the minis were excellent. ?I don't have any of their capital ships. ?

Bergstrom Link

Here is a nice comparison shot between some Bergstrom and Ravenstar ships.

Comparison Link

Armoury Toys & Hobbies:

These guys make the 1/2" fighters and some capital ships. ?I haven't ordred from them.

AT&H Link

Now if youe want some ship to ship skirmish level action. ?You can always go with this... ?

Galactica Link

your only need one... :D

Cylon Basestar Link

Good luck

Thanks a lot Luis- I like the last one in particular!

No, that wasnt an accusation mate - more a analogy on you as the man feasting at a table of lovely foods as I stagger starving out of the wargaming desert and wants to eat everything on the table... !

Yes, please!

Actually make that an armoured drumstick with some Vipers on the side, in a white wine sauce of course!

Wow !  Back to the BSG Future !  Great looking ships, and I'm sure you'll paint them up just fine ! Sometimes you guys amaze me ... I don't even remember the names of all those BSG ships, and I remember seeing the very first show back in the day !  :;):

Thanks guys.

I intend to paint these a rather dark grey to match the current series look.

On the Basestars I may do exactly as Tas suggest and just hit them in a wash followed by a light drybrushing.  They are almost the color I want.

I worked on the last of the Raiders tonight but hope to get more done when the parents leave.  But the snow storm may keep them here a while in which case my painting plans are screwed.

Tas,

Remember when I see the VSG stuff you and Vanvlak make I always think "Airships that would be cool"

:D

Get them done when you are ready - dont rush them!

And thanks mate - reciprocal seduction to buy more miniatures is always appreciated!

And yes, Airships ARE cool!
