all in all it just seems to be an action movie. Someday i dream of a scifi with a good plot and story...

Aye, that looked to have as much substance as an empty cardboard box that normally contained  a big plastic bag of feathers...  ???

I'm very cynical about this film, I really expect it to be a steaming pile of dung.  I think they could have got someone far better than Michael Bay to direct it.  Meh.  :glare:

Perhaps another trailer might convince me...

There's a couple of good flicks he did - I liked the Rock and the Island...

I have to say, much as I try to resist... Transformers!! Woo! I'm looking forward to this - I'm going to enjoy the hell out of that film, unless they really go out of their way to screw it up. Transformers, how can you go wrong?!

P.S. Did you guys see that car advert with the dancing transformer?

Yes, I think that even with the likes of Spidey 3 and Transformers, this one will be unstoppable. ?Just going on the trailer, it looks like it will be a visually astounding, adrenaline pumping epic. ?The trailer already has some great, quotable moments:

"Madness?

THIS

IS

SPARTA!!!!!
"

 :pant-wetting-with-excitement-smiley-needed: ?

Plus theres Hot Fuzz, which will be comedy of the year ?:D

Yeah, I just love the visual style of the 300- it looks incredibly true to the novel :)

@ lord inquisitor- huh, forgot they were bay movies.  Yay, feeling more optimistic...

I'm also waiting for 300 with enthusiasm! Also pathfinder could have some chaos feeling in it. :)

I guess that it depends on perspective. I have heard a few negative comments on the arrival of 300, but those are mainly from the ancient wargamer crowds. I guess that if you are expecting historical accuracy, then this is the wrong movie, but if you just want an ancient thrill-ride, it may be better suited.

Having read the comic book 300 is based on, historical accuracy isn't entirely at the forefront of the plot (Although iconic Spartan traits & behaviours are certainly present, the reasons for the battle happening are fudged slightly with reality, there's no mention of the dual-kingship prophesy which was one of the factors that led Leonedias to Thermopolae, for example), but for atmosphere and spectacle, I'm hoping for the best!

I was hoping for a fim version of 'Gates of Fire'. That's got to be the best ever treatment of the battle of Thermopylae - it pleases ancient wargamers (and young ones! :D ) and us high thrill entertainment junkies too.

Regards,
Reaver
