CS - could we possibly please get the updated unit descriptions that have been hammered out in the pinned sections(sentry towers, broadsides, fire warriors etc) consolidated into 4.4.1(4.5?) ? Some of the discussions we had (e.g broadside stats/basing etc) have disappeared. Maybe put down those changed units in hard form black and white? There's no hard copy of the list as it stands on Tactical Command so....

Hi. The current state of the list is documented here:

http://www.tacticalwargames.net/cgi-bin....;t=5639

This gives issues that are under consideration, and those that have been resolved. There may be a few in the various threads pinned or otherwise, but this is the bulk of it.

Does this answer the need?

Sorry CS, no. I was thinking more that those changes get put in hard print so we can print off the new stats etc and play with them as they are now. I'm a little confused where to look at the present to get all the new versions of stats so I assume others(new people) would be too if they wanted the up-to-date units.

Hi all,
yes indeed a summary of changes would be convenient. Especially as I was absent for a long time (again), work sucks sometimes!!!

Cheers!

Well, there are still quite a few items in the air right now (which is why I have decided to 'outlaw' new topics). The only concrete, list changes are:

Change the orbital tracer salvo from:

Gravitic Tracer Salvo : 6x MW6+ Guided

To:

2x Gravitic Tracer Salvo : 3xMW6+ Guided
Each of the two Tracer Salvoes may be targetted at different formations.

Markerlight Sentry Turrets - make a formation consist of 6 units, at 50 points (awaiting ratification!)

Change all the SMS systems as a global: 30cm ? AP5+ - Ignore cover

Other changes are either text/background/cosmetic, or still open for debate. I am a little reluctant to create a new version and muddy the waters for this relatviely short list right now.

Oh. I thought we had made good progress on the FW...

I am strongly against any change in the FF value of the FWs. Personally, I usually play a 'pure' Tau force, and perhaps this is why I have not encountered the issues stated, since the FW are the only ones that do their job.

I find myself agreeing with Tactica:

That's why the 2x 30cm 5+ AP shot per stand and Pulse carbine going away or at least being religated to a FF weapon makes the most sense. Leave the rest alone.

This is my current favoured change in direction, but I will have a more in-depth think about it

With all due respect to CS, am I the only one here disappointed with the slow down on the list? Debate has dropped off to almost nothing lately and I kinda feel it's due to no decisions being solidly resolved.

I know Tactica has said he's said about all he is going to regarding the list and that makes me think others have too, CS.

Can we please ratify these changes? With a living rulebook style army list nothing is set forever so why not just make these changes to the list and we can go from there. I don't see holding off (on putting in the new unit data and making a new version) as productive.

We need to stimulate this army list and at the moment it's not progressing.

You are absolutely correct. Things are progressing very slowly, and you are not the only one frustrated with this. From my perspective, development osilates between stagnant periods, to the same issues coming up (Broadsides!) which have already been resolved.

I do agree that we should go through the threads rapidly and ratify changes.

Thanks for your comments.

I also just wanted to add... speeding up the process of development will result in decisions being made by me with less discussion (although there will clearly be some). I have been wary of doing this in the past, but this may be a necessary step. Therefore, I will go through and consolidate all decisions and threads, and produce a list of changes for the next version as quickly as possible. These can then be discussed at a later date.

Hey, I though that the resolution on broadsides was that if we're going to call them LVs, they should be slightly re-statted to better reflect what's actually on one stand?

(While I don't think anyone was actually happy with that agreement, we could all agree that was the direction we needed to move in)

LITS - yeah that's what I thought too. Wasn't it one LV per base and slightly altered to reflect that - plus 6 in a formation with +3 upgrade or something to that effect for 250+125??? Even the die-hard no-LV people had conceded it after CS put down his firm proposal.

Anyway, I'm very happy to see you take a firmer grip on things. Like I said earlier, if we need to change things later we can, so you shouldn't worry too much about formalising things for a newer version now. We've debated quite solidly already and we can again if consensus shows things to be out of whack.

I'm very looking forward to this revision. So much things have been discussed and impact the Tau army positively: FW up, HH down, PF down, Manta critical, new broadside...

What we need now is a common view of the whole tau list (Just to prevent having one playtesting Tau, while another one will playtest Th? and yet another one will playtest Taho).

bye.

That is correct. I will get to work on this (although I may need to sort out the galleries for EpiComp first).

Thanks.

Is their any progress on the next version of the list?

What changes are going to be included ?, I ask as I can't seem to get the link to the list of changes to work.

Speaking to the organiser of the Open War tournaments last week he seemed keen to include the Tau in the next tournament
