Salut ? tous,

The problem may have already been underlined but in the Black Legion and Lost (3.7) & Damned (3.4) army lists available in the Specialist Games Vault, it is said that "Formations belonging to Khorne hate those belonging to Slaanesh, and vice-versa. Formations belonging to Tzeentch hate those belonging to Nurgle,
and vice-versa."

I thought that the right combinaison was "Khorne vs Tzeentch and Nurgle vs Slaanesh"?

Is this a typo?

Like much of the old stuff.  It changed.

It use to be khorne (fighting) Vs Tzeentch (cowardly magic)

and slaanesh (perfection) Vs Nurgle (coruption)

Now it is focused on

Khorne (brutal fighting) Vs. Slaanesh (elegence)

& tzeentch (change for changes sake) Vs Nurgle (the cycle of death and life)

It's always been Khorne-Slaanesh and Nurgle-Tzeentch.

It is confusing (and I was right there among the confused for a long time as well) because Khorne hates magic and considers it cowardly.  That does not translate into hating Tzeentch.  Ever since the days of Realms of Chaos (1988), the actual deity-to-deity hatred had been against Slaanesh.  Khorne is the oldest chaos god and Slaanesh is the upstart.  The Realms of Chaos books were set up as diametrically opposed forces and they are Khorne/Slaanesh (Slaves to Darkness) and Nurgle/Tzeentch (Lost and Damned).

In recent years they have expanded and defined the conflict much as people have said already:

Khorne-Slaanesh
Old - Young
Outward (kill others) - Inward (personal experience)
Brutality - "Refinement"

Tzeentch-Nurgle
Change - Stagnation
Creation - Decay
Scheming (planning/hopeful) - Despair

Yep, the animosities date back at least to Slaves to Darkness. I don't recall anything other than Khorne vs. Slaanesh and Tzeentch vs. Nurgle, although there is about a ten year gap in my GW fluff (1995-2005).

I suspect the brute force vs magic aspect of Khorne vs Tzeentch just sticks in the mind, and it is mentioned as a lesser rivalry in the latest Chaos Marines Codex.

Looks like I've always been wrong.  How would of thought that GW would of kept some background constant.

Oh, Neal!

How could you leave out Malal?

Boy, if you really want to add an extra dose of confusion to the mix, keep in mind for the long timers the Chaos power that was Anti-chaos...yeah, I know, how does that work?

Oh can't we all just get along ... not wait ... never mind ... But really, I've said this before, G/W Fluff is like Orwellian "New Speak".   It kind of reminds me of that H/Chan show, about Shatner(Kirk) and Star Trek, "We made it all up !", - Bill Shatner/Kirk ...   LOL !!! :D
