Just thought I'd ask around and see if anyone has come up with anything for proxies.

I've accumulated some BFG Nightshades to use as Raiders/Ravagers. The fin at the bottom has to be glued on to make the Nightshade, so there's an intact extra bit for another proxy.

I also snagged this off eBay. A 40K Eldar support platform.

Thought some of the Nightshade bits would help turn it into an Executor.

I happened to come across a copy of the old CJ article that I believe was the inspiration for the DE list. It suggested using modified Chaos Disc riders for Hellions. Anyone think that would work OK?

BTW, as much as I love the work that's been done on the DE list, I like the name Barge of Torturous Delights over Barge of Pleasure. No offense intended.

I know they are a little small to be WE, but the old Eldar vehicles seem to me to have the right look for Barges & Vessels. Maybe with some suitably large bitz added to them, they could be bulked up enough to be WE.

I was thinking Ork Boyz might make passable Grotesques.

The 40K DE figs come with some great blade pieces that will be perfect additions to Jet Bikes to make Reavers.

I'm not very familiar with 40K, so I haven't been able to decide if the metal or the plastic Chaos Flesh Hounds would be better for Warp Beasts.

Would the Talos be better based off a Jet Bike or a Viper?

I'm also having some trouble telling what the Perditor looks like. Looks like it could be a walker, but the unit description doesn't say walker or skimmer. I thought that might be an oversite as I seriously doubted the DE would have a traditional ground vehicle.

What size is the Slavebringer? It's DC2, Trans Cap 8. About the size of an Ork B-Fort then?

Any input appreciated.

Sorry, but I don't have any proxies other than for the Tormentor. I am in the process of buying/selling a home so all of my modeling has gone on hold. However, I have plenty of stuff I have in the works... In general, the sizes of the paper counters in relation to the infantry stands is about right. You can use that as a starting point.
Specifics -
The Executor should be big. Really big. It should be at least as big as the Tau Manta given its cargo capacity and DC. I have a model that is half completed and it measures about 5 inches long and 6 inches across. BIG.

Barge of Pleasure was taken from the fiction, by the way. It wasn't anything more than a decision to include as much of the official fluff as possible. :;):

The picture attached has some of the precursors to the Dark Eldar models I have been working on. They are for my Epic Harlequin force but were designed as having a Dark Eldar chassis with a Craftworld feel. The Raiders were made from bits from jetbikes, nightwings, DE BFG pieces, and plasticard. They were supposed to look ad-hoc since the Harlequins are notorious scavengers. The War Engine in the middle is what I envisioned the Barge of Pleasure to be like. It would obviously look more Dark Eldar-ish, but the chassis is identical to what I was thinking.

You are more than welcome to deviate from my vision (I see the Dark Eldar as having as much variety as the Orks in their construction) but it should have some type of open deck like a Raider from which to fight.

Talos I see as being a big pain in the butt. Your guess is as good as mine. I have some bitz I collected for the claws, but that is all I have.

I have never seen the disk riders, but ultimately I think the Hellions will need some plasticard cut appropriately to make them look right.

Warmaster zombies are my Grotesques. They are around the right size and they look hideous enough. Mine are sitting in a storage bin waiting to be based.

We both have the same ideas for the Warp Beasts. I acquired some old Chaos Flesh Hounds and I plan to clip their 'headdress' to distinguish them.

Wyches will be done with Banshees. I may have a go at giving them haircuts and changing their armament, but past that they are good models.

Dark Reapers are going to be my Warriors. I am having a devil of a time acquiring enough of them, however. If anyone wants to sell me / trade me please PM asap!

Perditor is supposed to be a giant Talos (see picture on counters). Once again, just make something with claws and spikes and such and you'll be in the right place.

FYI if you are going to model the Perditor, I wouldn't make more than 1 (and no more than 4 Talos). I have found them to be highly specialized for the army (in terms of actual field units).

The Slavebringer is an aircraft and probably larger than an Eldar Vampire. It should be suitably Dark Eldar-ish but past that I really had nothing planned.

I am sure you have seen my vision of the Tormentor. Gribbly's Tormentor is also in the new 1.2.1 rules if you want to take a gander.

Raiders... I have decided to build these from scratch. They are common enough in the force to be worth putting some effort into them and will most likely be my first effort after the Executor is completed. The goal is to make a mold and cast them for mass production. It is one of those things that -if you do it lousy- it will make the whole army look lousy. So I intend to spend some time on it. IMO at least. Same thing goes for the Ravager.
If you are looking for a proxy, the old Wave serpents (with the boat-like front) might be a good start. Or the models you acquired would also work quite well (hmm.. ideas...).

The Vessel of Pain looks like....

? Insert your imagination. Gribbly did the artwork for that one on the paper counters. I am not convinced I want mine to look like that, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. Ultimately it should be a 3DC sized vehicle. Keep that stats in mind (5+ armor and TK weapons) so when you make it just try to think fancy, fragile, and big guns. It should also have some type of Shadowfield generator(s).

You can make good Reavers from old plastic Vypers trimmed down and decorated with blades.

That's all I have floating around in my head, but I will be sure to post any other accomplishments or ideas. No doubt others will come up with better ideas in time (if they haven't already). It will be a tough army to build, but well worth it in the end.

I figured anyone who was seriously looking at a DE army would have some ideas floating around in their heads, even if no actual work had been done.

Basically just trying to get some ideas passed back and forth, see if anyone came up with anything fantastic.

I'm mostly in the scavenging stage now, collecting bits and pieces with numerous armies ahead of DE on the work bench.

Just a personal preferance. ?"Barge of Torturous Delights" came from the E:40K Army list in the CJ article. ?It just sounded gleefully evil to me.

I looked really hard for an existing mini as a base. ?Casting can be such a complex process and the smaller & more detailed you get, the harder it becomes to reliably produce a clean cast (or maybe that's just me

). ?

I really liked the Nightshade, because it already has the fin on the back and has a prow that shouldn't be too hard to file to more of a point. ?The section that looks like it might be the bridge (in the middle of the model) could be sliced off to produce a flat deck. ?It's a little small to carry many actual 6mm figures, but is a little larger than most Epic LVs. ?A good compromise I thought. ?The side fins shouldn't be too hard to produce from 40K accessories. ?I won't end up with the best looking DE army, but they should look OK.

There's a larger BFG Eldar ship that really fits the shape of the Slavebringer drawing. ?It looks to be about 2x the size of a Vampire though. ?I may have to study on that one.

Looks like your conversions are dead on! ?Hope you'll do a tutorial.

A doctored Nightshade image to show what it would look like without the bottom fin & bridge(?) section.

Then 2 photos of the Eclipse here and here that might work as Slavebringers.

Wow those Dark Eldar are awesome Moscovian! What colourscheme are you painting them in? Just black? And some sort of tutorial would be great for your models!

I cant remember who posted them, but there were some useful DE conversion pics on here a few months back. I've toyed with, and prototyped some DE stuff. The NetEpic DE list seems pretty overcosted and weak to me, and I have so many other projects that DE have gone to the back of the queue, but some ideas for you:

Grotesques - Best I've seen is the plastic Plaguebearers from the E40K Chaos sprue. These might become real easy to get soon

Talos - Eldar Vibrocannon, with the original gun bits removed and replaced with one off a Sentinel, and the claws off the plastic Orc dreadnaught. Easy conversion.
Jetbike - you can make these very effectively from the old plastic Vyper. I'll try and post a pic.
Raider - again, based on the old Vyper and a Lascannon guardian. Cut just in front of the driver, and in front of the gun cradle. The rear gunner bit becomes the driver, add a plastic card V shape in the middle to stretch it out and give the platform, add the nose to the front and glue the lascannon dude just behind the nose.
Warp Beast - plastic Khorne hounds.
Warriors - the old lasgun Guardians....if you can get enough of them. I was supplementing mine with Scouts.

Oddly enough, those models are for my other Eldar list... The Harlequins. Sotec had done a supplemental Harlequin list and got my brain moving on 'what if'. What if the Harlequin joined as a force to fight - what would it be like...

So I put together a few vehicles (the ones in the pictures). I wanted them to be an Eldar-Dark Eldar hybrid type so that it looked like they were borrowing technology from each race.

But as I mentioned before, the chassis will be the same for the Barge of Pleasure, just more spikes and pointy things.
