After spending a week sculpting little tyranid dorsal vanes (half of vane on plasticard, cure, pull off and do other side), working and reworking to get 'em as smooth and symmetrical as I could, gouging out areas to put detail in, pushing them into silicone putty to make a 2-part mould, spending hours today learning about basic resin casting the hard way... I came to the conclusion that the vanes didn't suit my scythed heirodule conversion ("They look bloody awful!") and I binned the casts. ?So I'll just tidy the thing up and it'll be finished.
Pics tomorrow, maybe.

Awww, that's a shame... :(  I hate it when you spend ages sculpting/converting something, then realise it's not what you thought/hoped for.

Having said that, I'm sure I'm not the only EpiCommer who would appreciate it if you could give a few more details of your Green Stuff & Resin casting techniques... :;):  :D

Heheh... resin casting: put equal amounts into a plastic cup.  Try not to spill the poisonous crud all around.  Mix.  Pour (or dropper) into mould.  Open too soon.  Curse as semisolid cast is pulled out of shape.  Curse again as you see half the cast consists of a huge air bubble anyway. :p

Although I've not posted many minis on here for a while, I'm still as busy as ever and have loads of projects on the go.  Illustrative of this, here's a picture of my workspace, and what I've got on the go presently:

1: My new 40k army - Tyranids.  I was swayed in to getting a new 40k army when my fiancee's son & daughter took an interest in the hobby, and wanted to start their own armies - Space Marines & Sisters of Battle respectively.  Since I took this picture two days ago I've finished an entire Tyrnaid Battleforce Box set's worth of miniatures, except for the Genestealers which I'm saving for a future project (think one of GW's classic games from the '90's...  :;): )  Behind the 'Guants on the right is the start of my second Iron Warriors Siege gun, which I've been able to start through Justiniel's generous donation of a few old Land Raider models!

2: Lots of Exodus Wars miniatures!  There are 2 detachments of Guild Centuria, 2 units of Shadow Knights, and to the left are the starting of Epic Chaos/Genestealer cultists using these miniatures.  Not sure when I'll get round to painting them, but there you go!  :D

3: Flanked by some of my fiancee's daughter's Sisters are a few Inquisition models I've painted recently for 40k: a Psychic, a Scribe, an Inquisitor (converted from a Van Saar ganger), and a Servo-skull.  On the bottom right corner of the Workstation are an autosavant, an acolyte which need painting, and a Witch Hunter Inquisitor conversion I've been working on for nearly 3 years - I better get him finished soon!  :D

4: Representing ANOTHER 40k army I'm in the middel of putting together, here's a Lascannon which will be an objective for my 40k Colossian Mechanised army.  I can't quite finish this one off yet as I need to get 4 more Ogryns.  To the left of that is my Iron Warriors Siege gun for Epic.

5: This Razorback (complete with Haloween decoration   ) is from my fiancee's son's Space Marine army.  So far he's got these, 10 marines, and a commander.  Half of these need finishing, but he's a new distraction so I don't think he'll be doing these for a while...

6: Here's the distraction: an Epic Space Marine army!  I bought a job lot of minis off eBay, and included was an almost complete Space Marine army.  As I've loads of Epic Marine minis to make already, I let my fiancee's son have them - much to his delight!  They were already painted a very basic Dark Angel colour, but he insisted that they should be in his 40k Space Marine's colours, so he's made a start on these.  To date: 2 Tactical stands, 2 Terminator stands, 2 Assault Stands, and 2 Rhinos - without any of my help!  I'm very impressed, and it's great that there's a new convert to Epic.

Other than that, I've blanked out my EpiComp stuff, but I think it's fairly self-explanatory.  Enjoy!

I'm thinking about entering my Ork Looted AFVs in the '06 comp. ... since I never posted completed pics of them ... I'll think about it.  But there are so many good pieces out there ... I don't think I can compete ... But we'll see !  :D

Took pics of my Looted Orky SPFA and SHTs plus two more E/War Gates.  One gate is stock the other heavily converted.  The L/Ork AFVs came out good but I won't be entering in the Comp., I'll leave that to some of you other fine gents !  I'll be post these pics soon.  However, my auto-focus could not clearly focus on the Gates ?  Really ?!  I took many pics of the Gates, but none that crisp ?  Strange ?   Maybe the Gates were emitting a Tachyion Field or causing a localize Temperal Warp signature out of phase ?  Weird ?  (Been watching too much TNG and DS9!)   Will post soon and you can decide !  :D

There's no such thing as too much TNG or DS9.

L4, many of your fine creations would be perfect for the Comp.  You should give it a go!

I think you should. It's not like there are too many entries.
