We've changed the frequency to free me up ... to work on other SG related projects one of which is to get SG back into the GW mainstream.

I really hope Andy said this as a fact, rather than a canard to placate SG fans. Unfortunately, the pessmist in me tells me otherwise.

Well, he did say a very similar thing to me at the UK GamesDay too (He suggested that GW was likely to begin marketting BFG as 'if you have a Space Marine army in 40k, why not have a space marine fleet too?'), only now he's being explicit instead of oblique.

Just look at it this way L4.  In 5-10 years, you'll prob. have a new release of Marines, Guard, and Orks to add to your collection.

Which will be abandoned two years later, only to be resurrected 3-8 years after that, then abandoned, then resurrected, then...

Well, I'll refrain from negative comments (for the time being!!!), and optimistically hold on to Andy Hall's comments to E&C @ UKGD this year that Epic Chaos are being released in 1st Quarter '07, 'Nids the following year...

If this is the case, then cutting back FOL will be worth it.

If not, then it's another case of GW doing what they do best - or worst, depending on your point of view.

Well this is the same Andy who stood at GamesDay in front of several other game designers and flat out told me that SG's budget basically covered his salary alone, with nothing left for getting new sculpts etc, the same Andy who basically told me 'yeah, the higher-ups aren't giving SG the money to function properly'.

He's an honest guy... if he says 'we' have dropped the production schedule on Fanatic Online so as to increase support to other areas of SG, then I believe him.

A refreshing exception to the rule among GW employees, then.  :;):

I wish him luck and hope he'll succeed where Jervis didn't (i.e. getting SG back to mainstream). Let's just hope the higher ups don't decide something like:"Hm. It seems the specialist games can do with even less support, so that's exactly what we'll be giving them".

I think I'll go do some crony work now and wait for Markconz to come ad explain to us all why everything is just great and exactly as it should.  :p

I confess it' is starting to look a little like one of those situations where not retreating is just going to result in a massacre and Berlin being sacked...  :(

I am just hoping that at least the chaos infantry sprue is in fact released in Feb.

HAH HAH HAH!

What a joke. He might WANT to get them to mainstream but it just ain't going to happen. What makes him think GW, after doing all what they have done to kill them, will actually allow them to be promoted more heavily?

I wonder if our pessimism (mine included!) is possibly misplaced.  After all GW must be coming to the end of the LOTR franchise and will be looking for some new franchises to liven things up again.

Its not like GW ever had all SG on offer at once- IIRC it was more like a yearly rotation of each SG line in turn prior to LOTR.  THat sticks with the three core games on sale in each shop.

Also appeals to the splurge buyers- what better way to bring people in not just with a new army but a new system....

Anyway, i wonder if they are beggining to look to the post LOTR market and SG is surely the easiest way to boost sales...

Heres hoping  :)

Ain't we all. In fact I'm trying to build up some funds in order to buy a load of Chaos in case the stuff _is_ released in schedule.

They have so much LOTR stuff schedeluded already that it will keep them running for years from now. LOTR is big world and has lots of models they can make.

So even if that is true it would be YEARS ahead and not in near future. Maybe late next decade...

Remember they can only do LotR stuff from the movies.  No idea myself about what they?ve released so far so I don?t know what they can still do.
