Would love to have a correct sied one but I can't even aford the new ones as it is.

There must be an inexpensive way to make one. Eleven inches?! Just can't see how.

Maybe that is why my armies seem to be infantry heavy. :)

(didn't you post as wolf1 on the SG boards?)

Like I said, scratchbuild it.  Sheet plastic is very cheap.  I can buy all the basics to build a true-scale Imperator Titan for about $25, and I'll have enough left over to build a Warlord, a couple Reavers, and a pair of Warhounds.  Just need the dimensions of the Titans to start with, and I can re-scale from there.

Actually, I think that the local college's engineering department has a 3d scanner and a rapid-prototyping machine ([evil thoughts] scan, and digitally re-scale the output to the RP machine [/evil thoughts]).  Now I just need an excuse to play with it! (note that I still would need the original SG/FW Titans to scan)

If you want an 1/300 scale Titan, scratch-build it! ?The truly rabid modelers around here are good enough to do it (shoot, I think I'm good enough to build one, but the details will not be as good as the FW versions)

(I think I'm going to have to buy some of those cheap 1/700 or 1/720 scale warships to use for Titan bits, when I get around to making Titans...)

I just brought a 1/600 scale HMS Nelson, from airfix, for turret guns and AA mounts.

the main batteries are a bit bigger than the shoulder mounts for the warlord turbo lasers.

The only problem (and I think it is because it is airfix rather than any other company) is the lack of detail, no rivets paltes or anything.  Everything is smooth.

Peedes hold ground, but you cant take it without friends. All armies are infantry heavy, its the type of infantry heavy that the are that defines them. Mech, Airborne or Light, take your pick, they are all infantry armies. My marines Chapter is Mech, it has allot of toys to choose from, how ever I am from a Light Army.

Cheers

Good to have you back, 'wolf1'!

While I'm all about good Infantry, the true path to victory is through combined arms:  Armor, infantry, artillery (whoops, Astartes are weak there), air, and naval forces all working in concert.

Listen to me babbling:  Bring on the Emperor's First and Finest, the Dark Angels!  1 Termy det acquired, 4 more to go, plus 4-5 more Marine Companies (for the heavy weapons, I already have almost all the bolter Marines I need), and then the vehicles...  That's not going to be cheap.

The Tau will be worse:  all that beautiful resin... ouch!  My wallet just bit me, for just thinking about it! :D

L4, even this Sailor knows that sometimes all the firepower in the world won't get you anywhere, but a few dug-in infantry will keep the enemies at the gates from getting inside to wreak havoc.

Yep ! Combined Arms, Inf, AFVs, FA, CAS, and if you are lucky Naval (or spacecraft) gunfire !  That's the ticket and CAL is correct all Armies are Infantry heavy, ie. most combat maneuver elements are a form of Infantry.  Whether Mech, Airborne/Air Assault , Light, etc. ...  They are cheaper and quicker to produce than the other combat arms ... but bottomline ... Combined Arms is the answer ... the Germans taught us that in WW2 and the Allies refined it. And in both Gulf Wars the Coalition prefected it ... The Air/Land Battle Doctrine is the 21st Century version of Blitzkrieg.  And some times referred to as Hyper-War, instead on Lighting War ... Just ask a SW Asian in Iraq or Afghanistan, that was on the receiving end ... in they all aren't dead or hiding ... Well class is out ... Go get some !  :D
