Just on the size of Titan models, the original Adeptus Titanicus says battle Titans are 40 to 80 feet tall, so that's roughly 12500mm to 25000mm tall. So at 1/300th scale, the models should be about 41 to 83mm tall. I've only got a Reaver handy here, but it's about 50mm tall, which seems about right for a smaller battle Titan. Anyone got a Mk3 Warlord handy to measure?
Regards,
Reaver

Aye but when you take the ForgeWorld models into account (Which actually took the time to model the cockpit and crew compartments), you see that the 40-80 foot figure is somewhat short, especially for the Reaver & Warlord titans.

I think titans have gone through a serious height boost since then.  The following link puts a Reaver at 30 metres.  Not sure what the source was but that ties in with what I seem to remember reading.  That?s less than 1/10th the height of the Empire State building, for what that information?s worth!

Has anyone ever parked a tank next to an aircraft? I think they are in scale, we parked a Leopard next to an F111 once and the thing dwarfed us. These aircraft have an infantry carrying capacity inside and the vehicle outside, think C130 and you are gettting close. Tanks aren't that big genrs, trust me I have been living on them for 16 years, the M1A1 is a wide tank at abot 3.5m, but only about 2.4m in height and probably not even 10m long. Aircraft are far bigger because of the engines required and the weapon systmes like cannon that are fitted behind the nose section. I will agree that the Titans could do with some upsizing.

Cheers
CAL

I agree that titans need ti be upsized, but for a totallydifferent reason.

When I first started to scatch build my bio titans I tried to make them toscale with the infantry.  Now my "scout" titans dwarf my opponents gargant :D

Also weren't titans originally larger than shyscarpers (going from the old artwork of them fighting in a city)

If Epic Titans were scaled correctly, they would indeed be that size.

As I said, we worked out that a Warlord Titan would be 11 inches tall, while an Emperor would be 1 and a half feet at least!

I agree with CAL001 ! Been around and in AFVs of all types, M60s, M1s, M113s, M2s, etc., etc. ... And flown and/or jumped from C130s, C141s, C5As, UH1s, UH60s, CH47s, etc. ... and generally the Epic scale is "good" or close enough, for me. ?But G/W-F/W keeps changing sizes of stuff ! ?Whether it's SMs, Orks, Eldar, etc. ... ?Or Russes, Raiders, Rhinos, etc., etc. ... ? As far as Titan sizes, they generally work for me ... bigger "in scale" Titans would cost more !!! ?And as a former Grunt, I'm still not real in love with the "Titan Concept", even thought, I've got bunches ! ?I mean anything that big is nothing but a target ! ?Remember in the lastest version of Wot/Worlds ? ? Once the shields were gone on those Martian Tripods, those Grunts from 10th Mtn, were whacking them with light AT weapons. ?Just point and shoot ! ?You'll hit something ! ?Notice CAL mentioned how "small" an M1 is ... small = smaller signature = harder to hit/kill ! ?< End Rant Mode > ?:D

And I agree with Bombot ... about scale & distance ... And maybe they just recruit short Pilots !  :D  If you have ever been inside a USSR AFV, we joked about they must put shortest recruits in their MBTs !   :D

I think Titan sizes have been totally variable over the years, for instance AT said '40 to 80 ft high' but showed pictures of Warlords as tall as 10 storey buildings, so that's got to be at least a 100 feet. And then when you look at some of the 'Battle for Armageddon' and 'Eye of Terror' artwork, warlords look way bigger than that.

So, yeah, I think Titan models could benefit from a size boost.

(BTW, the E:A book says Gargants are 4 storeys high. That sounds pretty damn small to me.)

I guess that the real story here echoes the one currently going on in Reapers CAV development. There, the fliers have just been upscaled to 'true N scale'. The CAVs remain in scale, and the fliers are very large in comparrison.

Now, if a Warlord titan was the 'correct' scale, at 11 inches, it would come in (most likely) at least at 100 pounds (UK) - and probably a whole lot more. So, if there is a choice between 'dinky' titans, and 'so large I can only buy one', I can live with the smaller versions.

I agree.

While resin casting now allows us to have aircraft that are the correct scale, Titans would be far to expensive to game with if they were truescale, even if they would be truly awesome. :D

Though they would be expensive I would love FW to make true scale titans, for the odd mad collector/gamer (we have a fair few here).

People are willing to fork out several hundred pounds for 40K scale titans.  I'm sure we would be willing to do the same for epic scale titans.  I would be prepared to pay crazy manta sized prices for a true scale epic imperator :D

My sentiment, also. I don't care if things are out of scale to each other, just as long as they are consistently out of scale.

If you want an 1/300 scale Titan, scratch-build it!  The truly rabid modelers around here are good enough to do it (shoot, I think I'm good enough to build one, but the details will not be as good as the FW versions)

(I think I'm going to have to buy some of those cheap 1/700 or 1/720 scale warships to use for Titan bits, when I get around to making Titans...)
