I don't really care about the metal missing. ?I've always thought the "Imperial + lots of spiky bitz" looked pretty stupid, especially in epic scale where the spikes have to be ridiculously out of proportion in order to make it castable.

The daemon engines would be nice but the other stuff can take a flying leap for all I care.

You beat me to it Neal :D

The Chaos Rhinos are the least horrid of the lot but the Land Raiders in particular are awfull. ..And at the risk of sounding like a heretic: The Dreads and Bikes does't strike me as particularly good either even if they do have a certain "news" factor. he bikes can easily be converted form Marine bikes with a bit og GS.
...And really: Don't even get me started on the Chaos titan... :p

The infantry on the other hand is really nice so I'm very happy to have that available again. Even daemon engines can be built on a tank chaissis with a few bitz and some green stuff. I actually made a decent loking Cauldron of Blood from an old mk1 Hellhound. Hmmm... Perhaps it is time to write up a few conversion articles for Incoming...

If we could get the Chaos plastic spure and perhaps a Defiler model then that'd be all the support I demand for Epic in 2007

This excuse of the Chaos moulds being 'MIA' does smell a bit of b###s### to me. When EA was released there was the timeline of future releases. Since GW's scaling back for SG that has obviously changed, but even at this time last year I was under the impression that we would have the Chaos range released in February of this year (after speaking with Jervis at Games Day 2005). Its been over 3 years since EA was released, so have the moulds been missing all that time or have they recently gone 'missing'?. Just smacks of ''we can't be bothered'' from GW/SG. It may be true that they have gone missing, but why is this the first we have heard of it?, it all seems rather convenient to me. Just my 2 peneth worth.

On the other hand it could, in the end turn out to be a good thing. As Reaver pointed out perhaps FW will be coming to the rescue. I have heard that they are possibly going to be making the Daemon Engines for 40k, then there is the possibility of them using there super shrinking machine to make lovely Epic versions :p
And with all the new Imperial/Chaos stuff coming out for IA5 & IA6, we could be in for a bonanza of Epic stuff. Then again I could be way of the mark and just be hoping for too much, anyway time will tell :;):

When was the last time FW produced an epic model which wasn't aircraft?

Roughly, I would say over a year with the Ork Battlefortress?

Is there, bar the rhinos/LR attached to the new TH, any indication that they are planning any?

Because it's the first time anyone's looked for them?  Presumably the original plan was to sculpt new models.

Anyway, I agree with neal and warmaster.  The spiky tanks look pretty silly in Epic.

I agree that the tanks dont look great. And, I agree that conversion is the way forwards. I even agree that converting Dreads and Bikes is cool. But, 'misplacing' molds for an entire force in the game is either not entirely true, or shows a real lack of commitment to the game.

Anyway, I found some more pictures out there...

It is true that GW seems to use "We lost the moulds [/ PDFs]" much as a school kid would use "I lost my homework".

Maybe someone at GW said "They don't look like the current 40k range, we can't release those.  Say we lost them!"  Wouldn't surprise me.

Except the bikes & Dreadnoughts are dead-on with the current range.

True, but no-one would believe they'd lost half a mould :p

I don't know what to believe to be honest.

TBH I also agree that the E:40K Rhinos and Land Raiders were somewhat silly and don't really fit with the current range, but the newer models did look promising.

So, what do the L/Raider and Rhino under the T/Hawk Trans look like ?! I guess we'll be able to order either with the T/Hawk Trans ?  I wonder if they will sell them separately ?  Like 2 -4 Raiders or Rhinos per pack ?  Not like we need more versions of either ?!  :D

Like the SG ones only much higher detail... each individual link is modeled on the tracks in exacting detail.

Yes both types will be sold.

I wonder if they will sell them separately ?

Potentially.

As a point of order the moulds in question are entirely irrelevant to the question of making the miniatures.

Chances are the Chaos vehicle moulds... if in fact they were actually made in the first place... were pitched with the rest of the E40K era moulds due to space concerns.

You can always make more moulds as long as you have the masters for the miniatures... chances are those are what GW has lost if in fact they've lost anything.

Andy H specifically said molds to me, not masters.
