I haven't forgotten. This is one of those days that I'll probably always remember exactly what I was doing at the time I heard the news.

It's hard to forget hearing DEFCON increases and manning battlestations 'This is not a drill'.

A moment of silence for those lost 5 years ago this day, and all others lost before and since due to terrorist attacks.

L4, you are funny some times. How could this ever be forgotten?

I do not remember what I was doing when I first heard about the plane hitting into the tower. But I do the moment we heard about the second one and it became clear it was not a horrable accedent but rather a terrorist attack. I can remember the moment I realized this was an attack. I can remeber the panic as I stood in one of the tallest buildings in our are within sight of the airport. I remember how I realized how easy it would be for someone to do this.

No L4, it will never be forgotten.

I am pretty sure anyone going to the airport (except for those who have private jets/plane) can feel for what 9/11 did

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this thread is one of those political things that we're not supposed to do anymore. Maybe Iain should look at it.

After all, this issue (9-11) is very little different from the Israel-Hezbollah War issue that I was chastized over. All I asked for was support from my friends... not to choose sides and that became an issue for the community. I don't want to see the community go through another issue like the one I went through. Most folks were fine, but it bothered a few and I certainly didn't want to bother anyone on my good list.

If it is OK to write about 9-11, then I'll share this... a poem from someone famous on my blog here:

http://6mm-minis.blogspot.com/2006/09/h ... -9-11.html

I'll never forget 9-11... it's the Pearl Harbor of my generation.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Then maybe you should report it Maksim and make sure he does see it.

*** Maybe all of us should both report it? ***

I would also like to point out that I'm not a moderator for this section.

I beleive that this was mentioned on the board conduct page:

6: As also stated in the Forum Rules, we try to refrain from any religous, political or racial remarks at all. We're a mixed bunch of people and these subjects tends to become a hot potato all too fast. If you want to state a political point then there's plenty of other forums where to do so. Try to be self moderating in that respect. It just keeps everybody happier.

Personally, I don't have a problem with this topic (I'm even in full concordance with it), but if we're going to make a rule... then we need to apply it fairly across all posts. No politics means no politics.

Personally, I dealt with things fine before the "no politics" rule became a stated policy after I was chastized for asking for community support during the Israel-Hezbollah War.

I just want Epicomms to fair and to follow the rules and guidelines that Iain sets for this place as host and owner. And Iain listens to all of us so the rules and guidelines that Iain sets for this place really reflect the thoughts and ideas of the Epicomms community.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

No one disagreed with you Maksim, at least no one I saw. So report it and be done with it.

EDIT: Ok Maksim, just so you will be happy, I have reported the thread to the Moderators just as you asked.

My intention was not to be "political" ... but to remember the dead on 9/11 and as Lion said, all those since then because of it ...  As a former professional Soldier, still suffering from some sort of PTSD, I understand about honoring the dead ... I've been OIC of too many burial details, Survivor Assistance Officer and even Casualty Notifaction Officer, in the past ... not to mention Medevacing Wounded ...   Where I live most people I know don't remember or understand anything about Soldiering.  Few knew we had troops in Korea or knew the difference from the ROK and RVN ... So my point is don't forget the dead. What happened regardless of your politics was wrong in all but a few minds ...   Let's end this ... Iain, if I started anything that voilated the rules, I'm sorry and forgive my foolishness ...  No more needs to be posted ... Let's go to other post and talk about "better times than these" ...

Yep, knew that was what you were doing. Sadly not everyone sees the same things the same way. Thus is the way of the world.

Hi all,
I am one of the moderators over here, and have read the thread a couple of times, and have received reported comments on it.
As I unfortunately have to tackle piles of work before returning here, and as CS, who is the big boss, is not around, I will apply my own judgment here, and close this topic, but not delete it. I have also modified one post and deleted another. Any comments or complaints on my chosen course of action should be sent to myself and to the other moderators for this board, Mojarn Piett and Cuban Commissar, as well as to Cybershadow of course. I will not be in a position to reply for some hours, I'm afraid.
CS, and the other mods too, please do not hesitate to reverse or otherwise change my decision if you feel I have not been correct.

John
