Due to the size of the Manta, and its aircraft stand, I have a question regarding it and how it reacts to the rest of the units on the table.

Does it occupy the entire surface area of the table or can unit be placed and move under it?

If an assault takes place can units of either side move through it or must the move around it?

Due to its DC and surface area it seems to be quite imposing on the table, but its description of hovering high up led me to think that units could engage each other under it...curious to know how it is being played.

E:A is a permission based game, unless the codex rules explain otherwise, a unit follows all the normal rules in the main book.

So - no, you cannot move under it based upon the rules.

thanks Tactica.

Moscovian and his DE team worked up a support craft of thier own and we were playtesting it, we both let the assault take place in its shadow for reason I can't remember, but it was a point of discussion later.

We will take this into account and see what comes of our next DE encounter!

I think support craft should measure all ZoC and ranges from it's flight-stand, personally. Given that it's supposed to be so high up, it seems appropriate that it should have a smaller ZoC then it might due to it's size, and weapons having a slightly harder time reaching it.

Illushia,

I hear you and would love to give way to the suggestion, but it causes more wording and more descripton and more problems.

How do you now handle Barrages? vs. the wings or vs the base?

What if it spills over and hits multiple units?

If you place a friendly under the wing, and its a WE (scorpionfish) could the dot of the single template barrage affect both WE due to one being under the other?

For simplicity sake, sticking to the main rules means nothing can deploy under it, and its ZOC is what it is per the rules.

If we can prove it causes problems - then we add language changing it from the norm.

Thus far, KISS where possible has prove to benefit general enjoyment and reduces the amount the opponent must learn to face the Tau (or anyone's) list.

Just my thoughts.

I had all sorts of arguments for eliminating the ZoC entirely until I read Tactica's comments.

I can't think of anyway to elminate those issues, so I tend to agree it needs a ZoC.

However, I firmly believe they need to add Support Craft to the revised rules.  It obviously is making its way into the Epic universe and needs some firming up.
