Well, got in another playtest game tonight... I believe my opponent thought I might be fielding the Jetbike Jambalya army...

You'll know what I mean in just a second...

(DANG IT!  I did it again!  That should be "Playtest #6"!)

Turn 1

No teleports.

Strategy roll: White Scars

Secure in the ruins, the Warhound goes on overwatch.

Swords of Vaul 1 double forward on a hit-and-run to blast India Detachment with a long range shot, placing a single Blast marker.

Golf Detachment double forward into cover.

Swords of Vaul 2 doubles forward to snap a shot off at Kilo Detachment, placing a single Blast marker.

Kilo Detachment then doubles forward to grab some cover.

Guardian Warhost 2 doubles forward to place another Blast marker on Kilo Detachment.

Lima Detachment doubles forward to join Kilo in the ruins.

Guardian Warhost 1 doubles forward to fire on Golf Detachment doing no damage.

The Aspect Warhost doubles forward to fire on Golf Detachment, killing a single Assault Marine, the first casualty of the game!

Detachments Hotel and India jump forward in a combined assault on the Aspect Warriors, who respond by counter-charging into Golf Detachment. ?The Rangers also fire on the approaching Marines, to no effect. ?

Golf Detachment loses a unit of Assault Marines and breaks, but the other Marines are unscathed and victorious, having killed 2 Swooping Hawks and 2 Warp Spiders (Wow, losing first strike sure has tamed Warpies!).

The Warlock Titan doubles forward, sticking to the ruins, and unleashes the power of the Warp on Hotel and India? India loses a single Assault Marine?

The remaining four formations of Assault Marine all march forward to prepare for the coming assault?

End of Turn: All formation rally!

Turn 2

Guardian Warhost 1 calls upon the Avatar.

Strategy roll: Biel-Tan.

The Warlock Titan engages the intermingled Charlie and Echo Detachments. ?The Eldar Titan suffers 1DC damage and completely wipes out both formations of Marines!

The Avatar then engages intermingled Alpha and Bravo Detachments who manage to counter-charge into Guardian Warhost 1. ?In the first round of combat, the Avatar suffers 3 hits and I roll three "1"s? no "6"s? and my opponent scores a crit! ?Some Marines are cut down as well, and in the second round 1 Heavy Weapon and 1 Support Weapon are destroyed, but the Marines are all eliminated? the Rangers, Aspect Warriors, and Guardians all take a Blast marker for the loss of the Avatar.

Guardian Warhost 2 seeks revenge and engages the intermingled Kilo and Lima Detachments. ?This conflict also lasts two rounds, with much the same result, though only a single Support Platform is destroyed while all the Marines are struck down.

(In three activations, the Marine army has been more than cut in half?)

Detachments Foxtrot and Golf launch a combined assault on the wounded Warlock Titan. ?They do manage to do 2DC more damage, but, again, the Marines are wiped out? the proud Eldar machine moves close to the enemy?

The Warhound attempts to move forward on a retain, but fails, sticking to the ruins and regrouping.

Swords of Vaul 2 advance on India Detachment, and eliminate the survivors.

Guardian Warhost 1 advances on Detachment Hotel and takes out 1 Marine.

Detachment Hotel fails to engage and regroups instead, clearing all Blast markers.

With almost a complete lack of enemies around, the Autarch has an impossible time trying to get her surviving Warp Spiders to do anything and they just regroup.

Swords of Vaul 1 also fails to do anything and also regroups?

End of Turn: With only two formations left, the White Scars player capitulates?

*Wow!*  That may have been the most carnage I've ever seen in a game of EPIC!  Nine formations wiped out!  Yikes!

If the Warhound had been able to activate, I think the Warlock might have gone down.  With only 3DC left, it was hurting.

As to the Warlock... *WOW*, can that thing ever dish it out!  I was stunned by its assault strength... I may have been all wrong about big Titans!

Hence my comments on Warlock Titans at SG...  :;):
They can be truly terrifying and I think the proposed 50 points break is probably another change that can be discarded.

I wouldn't take too much stock from this game on the issue though - which gets my vote for 'craziest epic game of the year'.  :D

Well, getting attacked by 8 Assault Marines with 2 Characters... multiple times!  And shrugging it off was pretty impressive to me!  *laugh*

And, yeah, it was pretty crazy.  I believe my opponent was expecting to be facing my "mostly Jetbikes" army which is why he took the high activation Marine list.  If he had gone first, it would've been a whole different ball game!

Maybe next time I'll spring the Jetbikes...  :D

As usual, great batrep Chroma, but this time, as has been pointed out, was a bit too freaky given the WS composition. And yes, large Titans rock, I've gotten good results with a power fist-Phantom.

Chroma,

For me, this was more of a "what if " game for the white scars than a test of the Eldar 1.6 list.

Sure, the Warlock seemed impressive... but come on... he was fighting infantry on bikes?

How much damage should an Engine of war on the calibur of a Warlord Titan take from a bunch of guys on bikes?

The titan also had a powerfist and its an Eldar titan... I'm not exactly disappointed with that result. If you are crazy enough to get toe to toe with a titan, and a Warlock titan at that - you had better eaten your Weeties that mornin'!

The Marine list didn't really look tourny friendly. The Eldar list looked to be much more of an 'all comers' variant by comparison.

I've never gotten a turn 2 wipe out in E:A, but I've never played against a bunch of 4 unit formations either.

As some others have said, the batrep was articulated well and loved the pics, but its hard for me to draw many conclusions from this one.

If anything, the Eldar player list rev 1.6 worked fine here, no blatant problems, jetbikes worked fine - despite the protests, and the list was capable of dealing out damage without pulse and with swords of vaal - still loving those by the way!

The marine list was... well... killed off, like I would have expected it to be here! :)

Thank you for the rep,
