I don`t post often but I want share a few of my feelings about the state of Epic.

Mainly I think the minis are currently of better quality,
I think the rules will permit years of solid playing, I think the quality of players and their regular contributions makes it a very well supported game. I also like the fact that Epic looks more like a wargame than when it used to be packaged in a box. If feels a bit more serious now, abit less colorful I admit, but a bit more serious.

My problem is the lack of consistency in miniature sculpts, when I view all my Ork models, some don't make sense together, same with SM, and FW, absolutely no coordination with SG. Plus they choose to interpret the 6mm scale differently...as much as I like my FW fighter-bombers they don't look right besides the other models....well maybe that's just a matter of taste but it irritates me.

Marketing wise, it's a disaster. I can't comprehend that GW can't apply the marketing tactics they've used all these years to sell minis for the Epic range.  If not in print, why not do it on the web? How many new Epic minis (and warmaster bases!) did the Dropship 40000 web site helped  sell since it was put on-line? It sure inspired me to buy the new models...otherwise I would of maybe stuck to my old range. How much did the incredibly realistic photographs made by FW fired up our passion for this game? It sure did for me. Now I got some new Warhound and Gunwagons and think they are awesome.

So yes, Epic is alright but I think with todays's technology it is unexcusable that they can't promote the product better.

Ah, on a more positive note, my Orks are almost done: enjoy! Orks

Not so long considering Tyranids as an Epic army didn't exist back then. And if my memory does not entirely fail me they barely existed as a 40k army, being the newest one.

You and your inconvenient truths Mojarn! At least i can rely on you to point out 'errors' in my posts...   :)  Note I had added a winky face to that particular point however.... ?  :D

I admit even the original proposals for the release of tyranids in EA were well behind what they should have been  :(.

What? To take money from FB/40k/LOTR to epic or other SG games? They don't want that. Better that money is spent on FB/40k/lotr.

The various and inconsistant sizes and styles are a G/W-F/W halmark ... scale creep meets too many cooks !  But I still have them all, in my 10+ Epic Forces/Armies !  :D

Of course that might be Gw's biggest fallacy: that money spent on SG = less money spent on core games. The only money GW gets from me is for Epic and I'm sure I'm not alone in this respect.

But are there enough epic only buyers to compensate extra resources spent or will enough buy FB/40k models that they combined with less resources spent on supporting game means bigger profit margins?

And of course: They are not looking for old gamers. They are looking at getting new player in and have him buy certain amount of money and then that player has served his purpose. We old veterans demanding epic goodies don't fit well into that plan :-(

Too true, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, in some respects, they may be correct about that fact. Has anyone checked out pixelgeeks blog recently... or Jimbos? :(

I am not targetting these guys, but we all like the background and hate the way that Epic is marketted. I just dont think that it is a total fallacy that reduced Epic sales lead to increased 40K sales.

I tend towards the view that sales tend to be complimentary, keeping people interested in GW's various systems for a longer period than they would should only 40k be available.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that it was a total fallacy. I merely wanted to point out that not all Epic players will buy other GW products when Epic is unavailable.

Epic is my only GW game too.  I have no interest in their other games.  I might buy occasional 40k parts for Epic conversions, or Warmaster for proxies,  but that's as far as it goes.
