After having leafed throught the Necron codex the last couple of days, I have started to wander.

Many state that signs point to the possibility of the Void Dragon C'tan being on Mars and in fact being the machine god.

Since there is a proliferation of cybernetics amoung Ad Mech, does it appear to anyone else that they are gradually being converted into a form of Necron?  That they may in fact be used to convert all humanity into Necron?  This would of course be a VERY long range plan.

Just a theory.  Wanted to see if anyone else felt this way.

Consnsus amongst fluff nuts has it that the Dragon is indeed Omnissia (The Machine God), and is either conciously or subconciously using the Adeptus Mechanicus, possibly in order to either gain strength or simply wake itself up.

However, for the moment, the Mechanicus are definitely the masters of technology, not the other way around.

It's not that I believe they are being overtly controlled, just manipulated by an entity they think of as a god.

If your deity says it's a good thing to keep adding mechanical parts to your body, you're prob. going to do it.  If some point down the road, you find yourself with so much tech in you, that you are no longer in control, well, it's a little to late then.

Just seems a little suspicious, what with a little piece of the machine god in most imperial equipment.  Looks like the perfect basis for a gradual take over.

Anyway, it just sort of looked that way to me.  Could be way off base.

Do not give up on the idea. It fits and is not a bad idea.

The only problem with the theory is that it's not in the Void Dragon's style to do the insideous takeover thing. The Dragon is  the Khorne of Necron C'tan. It is an unmatched destructive force, anathema to subtle machinations (lol a bad pun!).

So for the Void Dragon to be conciously manipulating them in this manner towards the specific end of creating new slaves (or even simply to destabilize the Imperium and reduce a threat) points towards a distinct change in methodology.

Or that he is not fully focused and is running on "subconcous" levels. ???

Just a thought.

Well, that shoots a hole in my theory.  There just seemed to be a lot of evidence pointing in this direction.

So...what could be going on here....

Back on topic, I wouldn't be surprised if your theorem was true. After all IIRC someone said that in the Xenology fluff book it says Necrons are taking over Ordo Xenos and some Inquisitors are Necron Lords. :O

Personally I hate the new fluff. I loved the original fluff when the Emperor could still communicate and machine god did not exist. Yes, you had to pray the spirits of the machine to make it function but there was no god of the machines.

As for the fluff - the Necs would in this case be in a position for overturning the Imperium - a powerful C'Tan on Mars, next to Earth; infitration in AdMech = infiltration on all ships of the fleet and all Titan Legions and all factories... add the Inquisition rumour, and it's a checkmate.
But it will never happen. Only the Orks and Chaos (and perhaps the Nids) ever make a big noise in the galaxy, and in the end the Imperium never loses ground. That's one thing I don't like about the fluff - in the long run, little happens!
And (heretic!) I think I agree with Mojarn's preference for the machine spirit age. ?:D

Very interesting theory and judging by the snippets most probably true (to some extent at least)

I'm also with the old guard, in fact generally little of the new fluff has found it's way into my universe, I'm still operating in a rogue trader fashion  :D

Apparently, the fluff is designed to point to the fact that within 2-300 years, unless something drastic happens, the Imperium will shatter, the pressure will just become too great.

That's the whole point of the game, playing in the last age of man, futilely standing against the darkness and all that.

The Imperium always loses ground. Every campaign ends with either massive losses or a withdrawal in defeat.

True, but they could introduce greater change without having the Imperium totally destroyed. And my guess is that that is what the Necron-Ad Mech takeover would do.

Now that would be an interesting new twist on things.

Humanity no longer in control of Holy Terra.
Much of their technology under the control of the enemy.

Of course with the loss of the Imperium, one of the strongest cohesive forces in the galaxy,  Chaos and Tyranids would run rampant,  so this really could not happen for the game to continue.

If indeed a plot of subversion exists, it will either remain in the background forever, or be thwarted in some way.
