Neal,

Thank you very much for the news/clarification. It's good to hear that GW/SG hasn't totally abandoned us yet.

Thank you Neal. I think it is great you are trying to keep the ball rolling.

Despite my doubts, I do hope you are successful.

But does the ERC have access to put things in the so called "Vault"?

They are in contact with the people who can.

For me, in the end the ERC is nothing if GW/SG do not put out minis on a regulr basis. Even twice a year is fine if it stays consistant.

In my mind the real issue will always be the minis. I can create rules myself if need be.

I concur. Rules are nice, but it's minis that really matter.

Well it's lucky that they have Chaos & 'Nids stacked away ready for release then I suppose.

What would come after that I wonder...

Looks to me like the market screams for Necrons.  That would prob. be the next most profitable thing.  If molds are still around, could just go with Chaos androids as the starting point.

Andy didn't just abandon us. ?It was more like "you guys have a lot more experience and know the rules better so I'm going to rely on your judgement." ?I don't see this as any significant change in their level of support.

I dont have much to add to the current discussion, except to point out that I think that Andy has done a good thing by 'openly' stating that he will rely on the ERC support. GW would simply have let the game stagnate rather than hand any amount of control over to 'outsiders'. The current decision from Andy does show a commitment to the game, and for that I thank him. He is being honest about the available resources and the future. I would rather that he was clear about things than try to deny the situation and hold up development further. It cant be easy for him to have make such statements, it would have been easier not to at all.

I also think that there should be some kind of role call for the ERC, along with a current list of issues pending. It would be good to know about what the current focus is, whether it is one or two army lists, or rules updating generally.

Thanks for the heads-up, Neal. Keep us informed over here.

It'd be very simple to make metal-cast warriors at least.

But the whole rest of the army would require sculpting from scratch...

ERC:

Me
Greg Lane
Pixelgeek (still active but very quiet these days)
Sotec (recently "back from the dead")

====

We've also had discussions about the Vault and how to structure it.  This is my propose list and preference but pretty much every proposal discussed has been some sort of variation on the following theme:

Experimental Rules - Strictly works in progress.

House Rules - Things generally considered balanced but which are not yet or won't ever become official.  By way of example, this could include "done" things that are to be part of a larger release (like the semi-official titan weapon modifications) or an army that the AC says is finished but that the ERC wants to triple check (like Lost & Damned) or things that by their nature won't ever be official, like Harlequins.

Official Rules

Feedback on that plan is welcome.

====

On the Chaos release, for those who don't hit the SG boards, it was announced that Andy is putting significant effort into determining what can actually make it back into production.

Hopefully, you guys can put 2 and 2 together and come up with the proposed release schedule...

As to the three sections:

- Experimental Rules - Perhaps these should simply be links to a forum location. That way you guys on the comittee can modify them without having to bother the web team.

House Rules - Sounds good, though I'm disapointed to hear that the Titan Weapons modifications will never become official. I'd like to see 'us' begin work on such a thing at some point, this was one of the greatest strengths of earlier Epic editions. The Titanicus section on this forum is testament to my strong feelings on this subject. :)

Official Rules - It'd be good if, as was suggested above, the living rule book could actually be updated, rather than requiring patches.
