Sorry to interrupt the usual doom and gloom merchants on this forum ?:p, ?but here's some more news about the Chaos release - posted yesterday on SG forum.

The Chaos release is the only real _big_ problem affecting epic players at the moment in my opinion. Yes I know Primarch and his cronies won't be happy until SG takes over GW and execute the management - but as far as I'm concerned Jervis has done a pretty good job of setting up a system for continued support and development of epic armageddon, given the cutbacks that were out of his control.  If they would only get the chaos and nids into production again things would be rosey. ?:)

Both Neal and I have encouraged Andy to make a public announcement about the Chaos release. As Neal stated, February is the most likely date for the Chaos release, at this point. Remember, we were advised a year ago that SG would only have limited releases in the Fall and Spring ... so, none of this should be a surprise to any of us.

In Andy's defense ... he has been investigating the status of availability on Chaos molds and only in the past 48 hours has he received information which will allow him to complete his quest and prepare a direction for the Chaos release ... so, let's give him a little time to pull this together.

No one really likes the situation ... BUT ... there is support from Andy, albeit far less from one person than we all wanted from the 5-6+ folks who were working SG's before last summer. So, let's give Andy our support ... and understanding. He is working for the benefit of the Fanatics among us ... we know who we are ... ?

We all need to understand that Andy is supporting several games, not just our favorite. This means we will be lucky to get a days effort each week from Andy and it really doesn't work that way.

So a 'feral ork' job possible in the best case scenario (ie a delay to the next SG release window).

Ok back to your normal programming - end of epic and the world as we know it etc ?:p ?

End of the world as we know it I'm okay with - but I'll hang on to Epic if I can!

I'll be buying all the new Chaos stuff as soon as it's available... actions ($$$$$$) speak louder than words! :;): ?

I await a release date... as I did with F/Orks!

I bought all the new stuff! So G/W... it's your move... ?

I'll be buying up DRM in the mean time...

Along with my 10+ G/W-F/W Armies, I have all 3 DRM Armies...

So I'm easy!

But just like most females I know...

...who comment to me:

"What have you done for me lately?!"

Regardless of what you did last night or yesterday, etc. ...

I truely look forward to Chaos, I fondly remember pics of T/S's CSM Dreads & Bikes... :D

It is such a welcome event to even hear of a communication with someone on the inside!

Even if there are no specifics or details involved. ?I understand there have been cutbacks and I would be happy to throw absolute bucket loads of cash at GW/SG just to get re-releases of the E:40k Chaos minis and the unreleased models. ?No new models HAVE to be made. ?

Same goes for 'Nids. ?Just re-release existing models with some old plastic Rippers for Raveners and I'll shut up, be happy and play with my toys :D.

They don't have to produce ANYTHING new to keep me happy for a year or two!

I'd even settle for a system where you have to pre-pay and wait until they accumulate X number of orders, then do a limited run of minis.

I've never complained about no printed suppliments. ?Heck, you can't beat free stuff in my opinion. ?In the past, I've paid $$$ to get pdf rulebooks. ?

I never encourage anyone not to buy from GW. ?I buy from GW. ?Just the opposite. ?I say buy whatever they offer.

I want their minis, but I can't buy what isn't there. ?I know I sound like a nay-sayer, but I'm just expressing what I feel.

I want what they have and can't get it. :(

Seems like this will continue to go in circles.

As GW does something, we get happy and have hope. Then they move the date out further and we get sad. They show prototypes and we get happy, they refuse to release them, we get sad.

To be honest, I am sick of it. I do so hope those who still have hope are right. I really do. But do not ask me to return to the hope when they are following the script from the last cycle.

Holy Snikeys!

I've been too absorbed with other things to get here much in the past week or so, but let me set the record straight for those of you who haven't checked into SG since I made that post.  I made that post hurriedly and after a rather difficult episode at work so it was both colored by my mood and not terribly clear.

Andy didn't just abandon us.  It was more like "you guys have a lot more experience and know the rules better so I'm going to rely on your judgement."  I don't see this as any significant change in their level of support.

However, what is VERY significant to my mind and the part that did surprise me is the implication that SG is not likely to make the final call on anything related to the Epic rules.  Until now I was under the impression that sooner or later (probably much later) there would be official vetting of proposed rule changes and new lists.

That lack of a final decision has several important consequences to me:

1)  It means the ERC can move forward on its own and take things to completion.  Hopefully there is enough confidence in the ERC that people won't start lobbing too many accusations of a secret cabal ruining Epic.  Obviously, not everyone will be happy with every decision but I think that most of the ERC members have shown a willingness to be persuaded and I can't think of any recommendation that went against a majority.

2)  It also means that the process will continue to be slow.  Anyone who was around for NetEpic knows that group discussions and building consensus takes a lot of time.  People are passionate and slow to change their opinions about their hobbies.

3)    There is no need for a Net EA because (assuming you don't think the ERC is too isolated) the "official" rules effectively are Net EA.

====

Regarding the Chaos release, Andy has solicited input from the ERC and in doing so had to give us some information.  I've asked specifically what information we are free to release.  I pretty much post everything I know as soon as I know it or, in the case of confidential info, as soon as I think it's kosher.  I promise I'll do the same here.

I think the specific information that we'd most like right now is how many of the Chaos molds were found, and how many are going to be allowed to go back into production. Oh and is the Chaos infantry sprue okay. :)

Oh and...  etc. :D

Can someone clear something up for me?

If SG will no longer be making the final call to declare something official, can things still go into "The Vault" under unofficial resources or will they have to be tracked down and pulled off the SG boards?

Any help appreciated.

The Epic Rules Committee will make the call as to when something becomes 'Official' or not.

It would be nice to know:

a- Who's on the ERC.
b- How many ERC members are still 'active', and who's gone AWOL.

But does the ERC have access to put things in the so called "Vault"?
