So, basically, NetEpic:Armageddon starts here?

Wow what a shocker......  Not.

How could people say they could not see this coming? Neal, I respect you as a person, but come on. As Army Champs we were questioning the lack of leadership quite some time ago. One of the major reasons I quit as a champ was the lack of leadership and lack of timly feedback from SG. I did not have the time nor desire to turn myself into a game designer for a project that could be rejected 100% out of hand with no explination. That was not weeks ago, that was a long (read many months, many many months ago).

Yes, and remember many of the old timers did not argue with you. Some of us just hoped you were wrong. But we did not say you were wrong.

I think our hope was right. We needed to give it a chance. That is why I put a lot of effort into the play test and I even took on the role of an Army Champ to begin with. By putting the time and effort out I think allows me to at loeast say "I tried to help" and now I do not feel bad for calling it as I see it.

IIRC, it didn't require GW dropping Epic for NetEpic to start. All it took was the release of E40k. The people on space-marine basically said "ewww, there's no flavour left in this"  :;):

As I recall a few of us started some discussions about starting an epicomms set of rule amendments for EA about a year ago. However, members of the official EA rules committee then restarted the rules review process. It may not be happening at the speed desired by some, but it is happening.

In other words, talk of a Netepic Armageddon being necessary, completely overlooks the fact that it already exists. The only problem, is that I believe in the absence of Jervis it needs a new overall co-ordinator. Nealhunt is a candidate who springs immediately to my mind.

IMO of greater concern for EA's future, is the lack of Chaos and Nid ranges. Only vague rumours exist about Chaos being part of the 2007 February SG release.

Since it appears the Net E:A will be needed it may be worthwhile to determine exactly that means.

1) Redo the system to be what the community wants
2) Not redo the system, keep the core rules the same as E:A, just develop the list (I prefer this, would seem easier to get new players into the game).
3) Forget E:A and just go back to NetEpic (I am sure there are those out there that like this option best)

My reason for liking 2 is to get new players involoved or those interested, many players do not like jumping into something like net Epic.  Course I could be totally off.  But yes developing armies maybe the best option. Of course mininature support becomes the problem.

Of course push come to shove just give up.

Only problem is that GW is only one (well FW too) that can produce the proper looking minis.

Really?  ???

Funny, I thought the DRM miniatures looked just proper enough for me. So did the GZG miniatures and troops, so did quite a few other lines I can think of.  ???

Look, if we want to have what we want and move forward dispite GW failing to support the game, then we must shift past the fanboy way of thinking. GW is NOT the only maker of 6mm that looks good. If my older Epic minis can be stand ins (Use As Rule rather then real specs for many figures) then so can other 6mm figures.

GW can go to Gehenna for all I care.

If my opinion counts for anything, I don't think GW does the greatest job living up to it's own universe.

At times they've produced some pretty poor quality minis and regurgitated old ones instead of producing new ones.

Ratlings as snipers for IG is a joke.  DRM scouts work much better.  Ogryns don't fit the Imperial cult either.  I may have been directed to a suitable replacement for them too at IWM.

I don't want to go into it until I'm certain, but I may have found a fair, but pricey source of mutants and demons for chaos.

I've seen irregular "rioters" that made excellent zombies.

DRM has made a set of 6mm sci fi lizardmen that in it's entire history, GW never got around to doing, though they've been in the fluff since RT.

Don't get me wrong, without GW, I know there would not have been Epic.  It's a very interesting scifi universe and for that I'm thankful.

But if GW wants to say that they are making decisions that are best for the company, they need to be expected to be treated like any other company.  You have to earn MY loyalty.  If you can't provide what I want, I WILL find it somewhere else.  If your service isn't up to my standards, I'll shop in another place.

I don't think anyone can disagree that when it comes to Necrons, Chaos, and others, their service has been lacking.

I also think most will agree it CAN be found elsewhere if you're willing to look or have the support of a group like epicomms to point you in the right direction.

What with all the doomsaying I've read on epicomms and TWG, I had kind of an inkling that NE:A would be needed.

I think what Hena means about 'proper looking minis' is the issue of copyright and intellectual property. ?Maybe. ?How much can you make a 'space barbarian' look a certain way before GW asks you why you're making CSM? ?Though I think the concept of 'space barbarians' is generic enough to be safe.
I think the biggest problem might be 'repto-insectoid aliens', because GW's versions are fairly distinctive (yes, even from Giger's xenomorph). ?And if you don't believe that, then I just like the look of them...
