any chance of seeing those picks of the unrelease FW 6mm marines you mentioned?

Cheers Mate
CAL

ohh yeah. ?I have to admit, I'd forgotten my promise on those - I'll get them out & make sure they get included in my next photo shoot. Sorry about that!

I'm very happy for you that you're getting out on your own. I think it will be good for you.
You're probably going to have to get a day job though...

Thanks for the good wishes old friend.
I should be able to scrape by on my painting earnings however. I have worked hard to build up the Mercenary brush's reputation & a base of regular customers, and now more of them are in the industry than just regular collectors, its far more stable, even if I'll never be rich!

All others - thanks for the best wishes. You'll no doubt here how it goes in good time!

To Finish, the latest pics from the front - the 3rd Guards tank army as it currently stands, awaiting deployment to Kursk, July 1943

Paul, your army would fit in well in our wed night group. They are heavily into FOW and where one of the world wide playtest groups. They are in week two of a 40,000 point Tunisia battle. I think Kursk is on the cards in the future, along with Normandy and Arnhem.

Nice work

40,000 points?!?!?!?!?

40 ????

Thats just silly.... I want to see it! :p where are they playing such a beast of a game - I presume they have a location they can leave it in place?

I guess its like a sheltered Epic player inding out about Primarch - I thought this force was on the larger side... clearly I have a LONG LONG way to go!

Thanks for all the kind words, as ever, guys ?:D

Edit Within the last couple of minutes: I went for it. ?I finally got one!

Congrats! ? ?

Given how much they go for on ebay these days, I'm so glad I got my two Imperators when they were new.

Aye

I set myslef a limit of ?20 for Imperator. I was lucky to pick up one at that price and then afterwards got another pair in army job lot. That should do me for now.

?30 is steep but if you really want one then price is worth it. And they will only get rarer as time goes by as OOP.

Cheers

James

Anyway, my current personal project is my 15mm Soviets. In recent weeks I've continued the expansion which was kick started by the June project day.

Added since the June day:
An AT Rifle company of 3 platoons
A company of 2 Platoons of sappers
the first half of a heavy AA company, manning 2 85mm guns
8 new command & commissar teams
& staff teams & HQ for my upcoming artillery company.

I've had a cancellation on my commissions, so I plan to use the time to complete the 5500point force early, play one mammoth game, then sell some to fund the time without work, replace the modls & paint them all again over the next year.

It'll be ?a shame to sell them once the project is finally completed (after two years!), but cash flow needs insist on it!

And the reason:
The Mercenary is moving!!
yup, after 24 years, I'm finally getting out of my folks place. Because I work from home, its hard to find a place to rent, but its finally happened, so come september, I may be disappearing from the web for a while (again) as I move both home & workshop 12 miles down the road!
I know its not gaming related, but damn am I looking forward to it, so I thought I'd mention it :D
I've still got money tied up in my folks house where I had my workshop built, but hopefully that'll be sorted by the time I need a deposit to buy a place - small steps first though ;)

Good luck with both your Soviets and upcoming move.

Cheers

James

One of my old clients has a mail order customer in another province that is quite literally trying to do Kursk at a 1 to 1 scale using 1/285th GHQ miniatures...

As I understand it he started in about 1994 and is still buying figures for it today. He buys around $250 CDN a month worth of figs so at that rate he should be done some time around 2030 or so...

Then comes the really fun part... setting the game up.
