Also have an interview with the Idaho State Dept. of Education August 1. ?Evidently they need an Admin Assistant. ?I just need to convince them that they need ME. ?[Crosses fingers]

Good luck. I know how tough it can be to get a job in education.

Hi DS,

No kidding...

Be sure to NOT mention wargaming, miniatures or any other non-PC topic!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Y'all missed that it's the Idaho Department of Education.  An Idaho Democrat is more conservative than a California Republican.  Besides, they're hiring me for my brain, not my hobbies.

Thanks for the good wishes!

Read an interesting book called The Five Dysfunctions of a Team.

OK, I know this is not Hobby related, but it is worth looking into regardless. :;):

Got my Scotia Lancasters and Hurricanes this morning; as well as samples of their sci-fi infantry (now I know why they don't have pics of them online) and large mortars which are satisfactory, but - if I'm allowed a moment of hubris - I could do better myself with a bit of plastic rod and putty.

*Must resist rant about average quality of historical minis*

'Planes are nice, though. ?Just need to straighten the wings, dig up some bases, and maybe try to sort out underwing bombs for the Hurricanes.

Edit Within the last couple of minutes: I went for it. ?I finally got one!

Too many of the smaller houses seem to think that is how you should do it. I have been disapointed and sad at many of the figures I have received from some of these smaller houses.

At some point you should put up a sample photo of the troops and the mortar for us to see.

Congrats!

Given how much they go for on ebay these days, I'm so glad I got my two Imperators when they were new.

Wohoo - I've been locked out of these boards for a while, but I'm back on at last....
so there goes another hour a day which I should be using to work... ? :p

Anyway, my current personal project is my 15mm Soviets. In recent weeks I've continued the expansion which was kick started by the June project day.

Added since the June day:
An AT Rifle company of 3 platoons
A company of 2 Platoons of sappers
the first half of a heavy AA company, manning 2 85mm guns
8 new command & commissar teams
& staff teams & HQ for my upcoming artillery company.

I've had a cancellation on my commissions, so I plan to use the time to complete the 5500point force early, play one mammoth game, then sell some to fund the time without work, replace the modls & paint them all again over the next year.

It'll be ?a shame to sell them once the project is finally completed (after two years!), but cash flow needs insist on it!

And the reason:
The Mercenary is moving!!
yup, after 24 years, I'm finally getting out of my folks place. Because I work from home, its hard to find a place to rent, but its finally happened, so come september, I may be disappearing from the web for a while (again) as I move both home & workshop 12 miles down the road!
I know its not gaming related, but damn am I looking forward to it, so I thought I'd mention it :D
I've still got money tied up in my folks house where I had my workshop built, but hopefully that'll be sorted by the time I need a deposit to buy a place - small steps first though ;)

Nice to see you back Paul. I have yet to get off my but and get my FOW army together. Man 24 years at home, you are a stronger man than me. Anyway banter aside, any chance of seeing those picks of the unrelease FW 6mm marines you mentioned?

Cheers Mate

Hi Paul,

I'm very happy for you that you're getting out on your own. I think it will be good for you.

You're probably going to have to get a day job though...

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Dammit!  Beat me to it.  :D

Same situation here: 24 and still at home.  Then one morning I woke up and decided I didn't want to be 25 and still at home.  The ebay clearout was the first baby-step on that route.

Anyways.  As someone who knows where you're coming from, I'd like to offer a hearty pat on the back and best wishes. :)

Mini stuff: taking a break from the test mini - a DRM chasseur - for the Burning Lances colour scheme.  Almost finished now.  I just have to finish the metal and touch up the base.
Then I have to think about how much dettol I'll need to strip that imperator...

To get out on your own can be a great thing. I left my folks home at 18 and have never been sorry. Money wise it hurt at times, but you will be glad you did it.
