Option B, a little diddy. We buy up GW shares and dont spend money on minis for a few months and become the controlling share holders.

PS. How much are the shares?

Current Share Price: 2.87 pounds per share

Number of Shares in Issue: about 31,000,000

So let's assume I need at least a 5% to even hit the boards radar. That would be 1,550,000 shares.

That would only take 4,448,500 pounds.

Yah, I can see us doing that.

EDIT: Niel is right, I missed it was in pence and not pounds. My Bad, but like the new total is any closer to realistic?

Market cap for GW is ~100million GBP - a little under, actually.

I believe that quote is pence per share, not pounds.  Oddly, I don't recall seeing things quoted that way when I actually administered corporate actions for the UK and Irish markets but for some reason Yahoo finance uses that format.  Very odd.  A share valued at several hundred GBP would have very little trade volume and a company would almost certainly split it long before that happened.

In any case, looking up the market cap directly gives the above and that's about what GW's financial statements said when I looked last.   You could probably get their attention at 1-2% but you probably wouldn't have real influence until you started getting close to 5%, as Dafrca pointed out.

That's still 5 million GBP, though...

Yep, you are right, my bad. But I do not think it changes my point much.

Darn your point, man.  MY point was the only important one - taking advantage of an opportunity to be pedantic.

Man, my last company could have bought them without blinking and it would have made nary a dent in the bottom line.

*sigh* -- those were the days.  $12 billion in daily gross cash flows.

You know, a leveraged buyout could work -- use the company's own assets as collateral for a lending institution, with about a 10% stake fronted by the acquiring company.  If we can find a company with ?10m in capital to put up, they could LBO the Evil Empire and put someone competent in charge.

With 10 million GBP you don't need a leveraged buyout.  You could just buy 10%.

Most publicly traded companies are controlled by only about 20% stockholders.  Institutional investors own the large majority of shares and most of them have policies against voting on company issues.  Corporate by-laws differ but most assign unvoted shares in proportion to the voted shares.  With 10% you'd likely swing something like 25% of the actual voted shares.  That's not only enough that the powers that be would want to seek your approval but enough that you could make serious threats if they continued to do things against your wishes.

Rather than spend millions on GW shares, you may as well just buy every gamer you know an Epic army.  That'll get you players!

At last, some sense! Can you put me on the list for the free armies? ?:p

It should be a relatively simple task to convert the world to 6mm- its so much more fun to send whole regiments to their doom rather than a handful!

I know what you mean. I work in Sourcing and Procurement for a larger firm myself. The money I see flow through every day could buy the shares for us.

Too bad I could not "borrow" some for a while.  :p

Look at the Battlefleet Gothic issue which is even a bit worse regarding development. Lucky not in miniatures. BFG has every race covered, that's a good thing. But in the rules department bfg lacks the epic foundation.

In the past Andy Chambers was the main man, assisted by Matt Keefe. Now both where GW employees, thus having influence and such, now the High Admirality consists of Bob Henderson, Nate Montes and Ray Bell, capable people but no GW staff (as far as I know), thus no influence.
