Hi,

In the Forgeworld catalogue all models have prices shown in pounds, euros and dollars. Being from the Netherlands, I, of course, looked at the euros.

This meant I had to pay ? 36,-  (22 pounds) for my order, excluding transfer costs. Shipping costs are 12%, thus being ? 4,32 (2,64 pounds).

In the end that would mean I had to pay ? 40,32 for the total order.

Now, to my pleasant suprise they only deducted ? 36,78 from my account. A difference of ? 3,54.

So basically what I am trying to say is that it can be worthwhile to look at the current exchange rate between the pound and your own currency when ordering at Forgeworld.  :)
From what I know Games Workshop uses a standard value for different currencies.

I'm not sure how FW does business but I know that the major credit card companies use up to date exchange rates and generally charge lower conversion fees than virtually any other source.

In short, it's probably always worth checking to see whether to buy via the listed price in your currency or to pay in native currency and let the credit card companies do the exchange for you.

Hi!

Having ordered from FW extensively via credit cards, the credit card company does the "exchange" automatically and at least in my case with no additional cost.

Same with my card. They figure they get me with the interest and the other fees.  :;):

I try to do the same thing. I hate having to give credit card companies extra money when I can avoid it.

Yes, that worked quite well until most of the cards moved to a two month average balance. So even if you pay it off this statement, it adds to the two month average balance.

Me, I like using my ATM Visa card. No additional fees and no interest on the charges. Pulls right on out ASAP.

Hi!

Yes, I remember when they switched to this to thwart practices like mine.

What I then did was "pay ahead of time" via online payment methods. Since balances reflected online are more updated and quicker than waiting for a statement, so I just pay very quickly after making a buy on a credit card, even before a payment is requested, thus my account will reflect a credit in my favor which the company will deduct when a payment is requested.

I havent noticed paying any interest thus far....

..although I have heard of companies doing what you mention on a MONTHLY... which kills any attempt at this.

Damn credit card companies....  :;):
