I read it three times just to be sure NH. Your post does seem like you've drawn a conclusion. I appoligize with my interpretation of your post if that was not your intended perspective / message.
Not going to have a circular debate with you on this though.
I'd like to see some actual game Tau batreps where the tactic was consistently successful - in the Tau army. If you think the outcome is obvious or otherwise disagree with the request - no problem. We are all entitled to our opinions / perspectives.
I think there are other variables at play which make token assaults in one army a rather gross concept. I don't think all of those variables are at play in the tau army. Thus, the skeptisism on my part that there is an issue here. I've yet to see a tau army used successfully as an assault force in E:A since many eons ago when JG had Tau with great FF and everybody running from combat.
Thus, my request for batrep results if others think drone token assaults are any kind of a problem today. I just don't see it... call me obtuse (or worse) if you like. Its just my perspective.

No one thinks you're obtuse.
In order to stop the path this is headed down, I seriously doubt that if you try it you will have success. I think it's clear from your descriptions of your play style and previous batreps that this would be a terrible tactic for you. Clearly, everything you've tried that has approached this kind of tactic has not worked and I fully understand your skepticism for that reason.

I'm far from being a Tau expert, but here's my consideration...
When you read forums background and rules you come to the conclusion that Tau are the shooty army of the game and that they are crap in assault. That's why I was not enclined to make them assault.
I agree this is not the main strength of the army but in many games, assault can be a viable option.
*a 4-unit crisis formation versus, say, a marine devastator formation has more chances to win the assault than the marines.
*Crisis often end very close from the enemy to use their 15cm MW hit. If they dont break the enemy, a simple assault with drone supported by these crisis is viable.
I dont say that Tau excel in assault,far from it, but it is definitly an option I have in mind when I play.
And finally, I 100% agree with Ilusha concerning the drone formation : I would limit them as an upgrade, only allowing Heavy drones as an independant formation

NH,
I don't claim to be an expert on all things assaulty, tau, or E:A in general. I'll concede that. With that admission in mind, perhaps that's why it doesn't seem obvious to me though as you indicate...
However, doesn't that seem to justify my request for batrep?
If the issue is clear to CS, as it appears to be to you, fine - I'll support the change by difference to those wiser than me on this topic.
