Just curious if there is any news on the status of Epic: Armageddon generally. From various forum posts it seems like GW has stopped development of the game rules and army lists, and is now not responding to volunteers who are developing lists like LatD, Black Legion, Tyranids and so on.

That's the general thought here ... G/W is not supporting E:A ... it appears ...

Or, on a slightly more possitive note, EA is still alive, and certainly here. SG are 'passively supporting' it, in my view.

We are looking towards a hopeful second annual release at the end of the Summer with miniatures. Lists are now fan-driven, but sanctioned by SG.

I would think of SG as an editor now, rather than an author.

I'd describe it as dozing.

Nothing much official happens for ages, and then all of a sudden with no fanfare, a new army (Like the Feral Orks for example) is released.

Tournaments in the UK draw 12 players on average so its alive from a playing perspective.

As to wether GW are going to continue supporting or not I think the jury is still out.

Well there was a fanfare for the feral orks but that was a year and a half before their much delayed release... :D :p

I've pretty much come to terms with the idea that we probably won't see any more releases for E:A from Specialist Games. Like CS said they've taken on a passive role in terms of the rules development and miniatures development seems to have ground to a halt. When the E:A rulebook and Swordwind were developed we got to see greens and other leaked material from time to time but by now that well has dried up too so I'm not that positive on that front anymore.

That said I don't think E:A is dead at all from a player's perspective. It is a very good rules system. If people can only get used to the idea of using proxiy miniatures from other manufacturers then E:A will continue to live on as long as NetEpic has done.

Why doesn't someone just ask?  Email Jervis or post a thread on the specialist games forum.  I would but I have neither his address nor an account on the forum.

Surely then you'd get a response from the horses mouth so to say...

This appears to be a more active forum than SG, so I asked here first. Since most of the army champions post here they might have had recent contact with Jervis &/or Andy.

For my part, my days of buying miniatures are over, except for the occasional trade or lucky find on eBay. I would just like to see development of the core armies - Chaos, Tyranids etc - completed and then anointed as official. I'm sure by this time they're as finished as they're going to get, so why not call it done?

Cheers
Philip

No problably not but it might prod them enough to say something!  Anything would be good at this point I'd have thought!

There are still debates going on, especially over the Tyranid list. :;):

We've said it before ... we'll keep it alive here ! ?And DRM, GZG, ORGE, etc. 6mm models will help ! ?(I've been Epicing since '90, and have most of the Epic G/W made) ... So model are not a concern and rules ... we write'm - Here ! ?Like I said, we may morph into 6mmSCI-FIComms ! :alien: ? :D  :;):
