I think when the EpicA effort started I wanted to believe it was going to be different. I had hope. Then I started to see the same BS signs.

I hoped for the best, but accepted what was. :(

I put a lot of effort into the EA playtest because of my hope. As I know many of you did as well. So I am not sad or feel any guilt now when I call it as I see it.

I will always love Epic, but she is a cruel mistress. So I have elected to find a new relationship.

dafrca

PS: Trish, if you see this post, I am talking metaphorically only. I am not looking for a new woman :;):

Hi!

Your a better man than I am.

I took one look at what was projected and said:

"I'll give it a year"

I wasnt far off....  :;):

Seriously though, I wanted to jump into this new endevour. All I really wanted from it was it to be designed from scratch. No preconceptions, no bias, everthing open to discussion.

Once it was clear to me that wasnt what was going to be done, I closed my eyes to it. Defeatist I know. But if it doesnt stir my passion I cannot participate effectively. So I watched and waited for the inevitable to happen..

..and it did.  :(

No matter what is said here, the reality of the situation is GW has done quite a few things to hurt their chances of Epic doing anything but die.

They have failed to treat it with the kind of support that allows a game to grow and expand.

They have clearly said the games they care about are the three core games and that is it.

Anything else is just a side tour.

Any fanboy who can not accept that is in for a rude suprise.

dafrca

Couldn't have stated any more concisely myself, dafrca.

I truly sympathize with those players who have started playing epic only recently. They will never know what it's like to have a fully supported Epic. I took me a while to realize how good we had it back in the SM2 days, at least one article in just about every issue of WD, new releases, the ability to walk into my local hobby shop and see hundreds of blisters and buy them at relatively reasonable prices, etc, etc.

And look at what we have now, a game on life support and the fat lady is warming up   I hate to be a pessimist, but I expect absolutely NO more new releases. Even worse, this could be the swan song for epic, as far as GW is concerned. Those Cads at GW have ruined it for all of us.

We said before, this may be Epic's "Last Round up" ... We'll never see those Chaos Dreads and Bikes, T/S did years ago ... I'm glad for DRM ...   :D

That's true Hena, getting plastics second hand is not ideal in many cases. Much better to buy new ones.

Better man? No I do not think so. I am just a man who wanted to know he did the most he could for it.

I can now sit back and say what I want because I know that I paid for that right with my effort to change the situation and my money (I bought minis and even a rule set when one had been given to me for my efforts).

But the fact you were right and knew what you knew does not, in my mind, make you any worse.  :)

I have said this before ... we'll keep Epic alive here ! :;): ?G/W may not support it but we will ... :) ? But with one of our own (Doug) creating DRM, plus other 6mm lines out there, like GZG ... this site may "morph" into "6mm Sci-ficomms" ... :D DRM is also coming out with rules, GZG has rules, etc. ... ? :;):   No X-File case here ... we know the deal ! :alien:

Hi!

Sometimes I wonder that if I had put an effort into it would that had changed anything?

The rational part of my brain says no, but I still wonder nonetheless.....  :;):

Hi!

I find myself immensely drawn to DRM, and thinking less and less whether or not GW will do anything.

In my view GW mishandling of epic can be a real boon for DRM, since they can pick up sales for those wanting to proxy or looking for another viable 6mm game.

Too True L4. We will keep the memory of it alive and morph it to our needs.

Wow, did that sound like some psycho madman bent on world domination? :p

Hi!

I'm actually thinking of coming up with stats for his mini lines for my Heresy system.

Heck, as things are, epic might take a back seat to other 6mm rules thanks to DRM.

Hi!

Such is life.  :)

Then again I live by the creed that once a decision is taken.. you live with it!  :;):

But no more moping. DRM has me more excited about 6mm gaming than anything else has in years.

I'm waiting to get some free time to update my Heresy rules and start making lists for the DRM figures line.

One door closes and another opens... such is life....  :;):

And with that we move back to a positive focus on other 6mm offerings. ?:;):
