I sent an e-mail to F/W asking about a release date ... I'm guessing 2-3 months ? I'll let everyone know if I get an answer ...

F/W replied ... "no release date yet ... but towards year's end many more Epic scale aircraft will be released ..." ?I'm guessing in prep for the upcoming F/W AirWar game ... well at least that's something ! ?

the comments that it doesn't make sense are erroneous. what could make more sense? go ahead and release something that immediately can be used and is in scale to what the game (air warfare thingy) will use. people will have these already then when the new game is released you need only buy a few filler models. i like the fact that these aircraft could actually fit pilots that are 6mm. my wife is in the Navy at an airbase and if you've not seen a military aircraft in person they're quite large. my gripe is that to have a high detail model such as FW produces a. you have to wash it in vinegar to get primer to stick (stupid resin) and b. they tend to be too detailed. hold an arvus next to a SG sentinel and the sentinel looks pretty bad imo... that's just my thought on it though...

I do nto disagree that the FW Aircraft are wonderful figures with lots of detail.
The only reason I dislike their gigantic size is that I do not think that an aircraft mini that is going to fly over need be exactly to scale. I like that the aircraft from SG are smaller in scale.
The same idea/attitude for the Titans. They are not in 6mm scale. But in order to get them on the table and have it look "ok" they have been scaled back.
But of course, this is a personal and subjective thing. So as L4 always says DWWFY.

After being in an Air Assault and 3 Mech Bns, in the past, military aircraft and AFVs are huge !! And thanks for the tip about vinegar ! But as I have said before ... F/W Epic is expensive, fragile, hard to work with and paint (clean off the releaser, glue some small parts, base coat with enamel instead of water based, etc. ... ) But I'll still buy'm and DWWFY !

I'm eagerly awaiting the FW Thunderhawk.
I'm not a great fan of the FW flyers on the whole (size problems) although I saw 'live' FW Ork Bommerz for the first time at the weekend and they were great. But, I think overall the SG Thunderhawk is just too small when it's landed. (As someone mentioned)
I also don't consider FW too expensive. Their vehicles are cheaper than SG. Only infantry would be a no-no for me due to cost and fragility.
I aim to purchase most of my IG via Forgeworld (using Stormblades and executioners as proxies and using their Baneblades, hydras and chimeras)

the problem i have with the Thawk is that it looks about the same size as a SM lander...so...if i want my aircraft to look like there in the same scale i cant use it unless they also realease a lander...dude i would LOVE to have a 40k scale lander that is by far my favorite model ever.

I was there with the 44th Combat Engineers in '93. And I spent some field time OPCON to 2/72 AR, as well!

Can't carry as much as a Lander mind you, but it's better looking.
