I must admit that this competition has been a learning experience for me. The four short listed entries highlight the difference to my own entry, making me think that mine wont appear. They are all much more strictly sticking to the established rules and background of the game. My entry wasnt totally out of the box (a Dark Eldar vessel, a totally new class of ship but no new weapons, etc) but the entries so far have been 'variations on established designs' - not that I think that this is bad.

A new ship does not necessarily mean your entry won't appear. As was noted, you could use an existing class or create one on your own. The main idea being what makes the ship special (take note: ship, not character on board).

As long as the judges are still putting up the short list and have not closed it, keep your hopes up. Once a week features can make one impatient but don't be. Let's all just wait until the judges finish featuring the shortlist.

Incidentally Andy is desperate for articles. That warmaster one is part of a bunch of WD pdf's I had on hand that were sent as standby articles, so this comp could be milked quite heavily.

Perhaps the article well is drying up?

Dont get the wrong idea, I am not 'down' at the situation, I am really pleased to see quite a few quality entries, it is more that I think that my entries (along, perhaps, with those from others) may have been aimed in slightly the wrong direction (I prefer to think of the term 'more revolutionary!   ). It is just an interesting learning item.

I agree that it appears that FOM articles are drying up. The three this week consisted of the fourth entry from the competition, and two reprints. I get the impression that they are getting thin on material... perhaps I should write something Epic... I hope that this does not mean that FOM is in danger of being reduced.

Perhaps the time is at hand to start pushing the Demiurg and Kroot upon them!  :)  :(8:  :)

Well, if they can't do much for the Q'orl without higher-uppers' say-so, I'd be cautious about the leeway the other races mentioned will have.

At least I will have one article left to see go into the mag - and it's been quite a long time in coming!

Well, Demiurge and Kroot aren't really too much of a deviation from their universe.

Well, they're all in now, according to the SG site.
So I've not made it.
CS, any guidelines as to how we could present any unsuccessful stuff here?  :D

WHOAH! It *does* say that!

Damn. That's a bit gutting, especially considering the first two really weren't at all terrific...at all.

Oh well. Let's go have a drink and cry into a pint vanvlak! Quite gutting really. Oh well.    :(8:

PS Still, since Nerroth's didn't make it, I don't feel too bad. His was an excellent piece and if SG are just going to be shoddy about things, then fair enough, it's not really a surprise. Pitties also to CS too, who's entry seems to have went along the same line as my own. Bah.

Thread started on this. Congratulations to the short listed entries, and well done to all who entered. We need to show our support for these games, so even those who were not selected should find comfort that they have contributed to the ongoing life of BFG.

Make mine a Guinness....

Ah well - congrats to all the shortlisted 4, by the way; and CS - off to find that thread.  :D
