I would not mind a couple of them. The Starship Trooper shot of the "fleet". That is one of my favorite shots in that movie.

dafrca | The ships in that movie IMO were one of the few saving graces to an otherwise sordid morass of uber-cheese.
I had free preview passes for it and wanted to be compensated for my time and emotional trauma from ruining one of my fave books...
The ships were damn cool though.
I may have to grab a couple or four of these as transports for my space games.

If anyone's interested in these I'd grab them PDQ. He's due for a cease and desist order pretty quick IMO.
Speaking of which... this kit was actually produced by someone I know. Somehow word of the kit leaked out and LucasFilm slapped them with a C&D before they could get more than a dozen kits out. This was the only one left.

When you deal in unlicenced kits you can make some coin but the risk is fairly high.

Quote (Reaversbane @ 14 May 2006 (12:38)) | They are very nice ships those. And that is probably one of my better paint jobs if I do say so myself | If the Valley Forge is one of yours then all I can do is congratulate you on your pianting RB. And nice fighters/dropships too.
Cheers

Yup, the Valley Forge is one of mine (the picture shows it cunningly placed on my garden table ), thanks.
I've recently ordered some more, and I'm hoping to get a full fleet of them together. The only downside is it is a fleet very much based around planetary assaults, which are tricky to game, but then that doesnt stop the Space Marines

What do you make of the quality of the Valley Forge and the Athena? I have been eying up both since I joined SCN. They look good on screen- I guess the key is what do they look like in the flesh? If they still look as good then worth it.
Cheers

I havent got an Athena yet (its on its way ), but I do think the Valley Forge looks very good. To be honest, and it possibly sounds daft, it's a model I find myself picking up occasionally and going 'wow this thing is nice'. I really like it, and I think the pics of it do it justice (in fact, the picture of mine is a far better likeness than a lot of my mini pictures for some reason).
I will also say that Jeff (the guy making them) does a good deal on postage costs, so it isnt a major issue to get a single ship to try.
Once I get an Athena & Ticonderoga (which I'm intrigued by) I'll post a review of them too (along hopefully with some pics of them painted ).

Come the end of the month I'm definitely picking a couple of each of the Rodger Young and the Concord.
I'm more than happy to support someone who puts out decent small run minis.
One quick question though... whats the athena? Am I just blind or am I missing the reference?
Don't want to miss picking up yet more miniatures that can languish unpainted y'know!

The Valley Forge is the same as the Roger Young and the Athena is the same as the Concord. One is the correct name for the setting (as far as I know), the other is what Jeff is calling them so they are not quite so direct a copyright infringement...

I know that feeling well!
