I'm fairly sure this one's been suggested somewhere before, though I can't seem to find it any more... How would people react to the idea of moving the Warhound Packs to the Auxilia Formations section, and removing the single-Warhound choice? I know this'll make some people real mad. But it seems like a good way to cut down on the 'Massive numbers of small exceedingly fast titans' bit that some people have mentioned. It'd mean that you could take two Warhound Packs for a single Legio choice, but it means you couldn't make, say, a 2000 point army with eight Warhounds in it and a total of six activations since you'd have to spend points on some of the more expensive items to get them. This also seems to fit with the 'known Fluff' that the Warhounds aren't really part of the main formations, that they fight alongside the larger titans where they cross paths but aren't assigned to a specific battle-group.

I have a problem with that.
If we move a viable choice like the Warhound Pack to the Auxilia, the number of choices would be too limited. The Knights already have ben moved to Auxilia and dysartes said something about another limitation for the Ordinatus. In the end there will not be much to choose left for your main force. Even a themed list should have some diversity. If lots of Warhounds are too strong, their number should be limited in another way.

I think an alternative would be to remove the option for taking individual warhounds (1 per formation) as auxillia. You could still take a bunch of warhound, but you wouldn't have nearly as many activations.

That was the other suggestion I was going to put forth, Semaj. Right now a 2000 point AMTL group can field eight Warhounds at 2000 points, with a total of six activations. Everything in such an army moves 30cm and fires 45cm. Allowing for quite a lot of fire power, mobility and a very hard force to destroy since everything is Fearless, Reinforced Armor and has Void Shields. Not to mention 3 DC each. If you remove the 1-warhound selection then the same army would be four activations, otherwise it's just about as tough as before. It makes the 'all warhound' army significantly less attractive, IMHO. And brings the Warhound back in line with the cost and effectiveness of the other units in the army.

With which TRC? An army consisting of four two-man Warhound teams, or one with two two-man Warhound teams and four individual Warhounds? And, given that you've played quite a number of games with the AMTL it seems, what do you think about the idea of forcing Warhounds to be fielded in pairs? I don't know if it's enough to stop them from being over-powered, but they'll be slightly less tactically flexible that way.
