Is this a good place to talk about the 'pattern' of Valkyrie we are using in the list?

Per IA-1, Forge worlds of origin for BOTH the Valkyrie and Vulture are:

Mars, Voss, Artemia, Estaban VII, Agripinaa, Phaeton, and Lucius

In addition, there are 10 known patters for both the Valkyrie and the Vulture.

Ok, the updated list is now available. I'd like for us to play some games changing things around as appropriate within the list and then come back in and see where we are.

I've got a game against space marines next week.

Cheers,

Hi!

Interesting list - though you may want to tidy the document up a bit, to keep each entry on the one page (looks a little cleaner that way)

I can convert to PDF from word and most formats very easily, and I am happy to do so too. Just send me the originals.

Interestingly there are so far three models for the marauder (I have them in my obsessive aircraft collecting fashion), 2 fighter-bombers/light bombers (mosquetoes?) and one medium bomber (which strikes me as a sort of B-17(not the superfortress one hopefully, never remember my B's)/Lancaster).

Out of curiosity, will the new FW flyer be incorporated into the Elysian list?  Not that it is necessary, but the option to bring in troops without teleport-created BMs might be nice to have.

Just wondering.

If you are referring to the Arvus (sp?), then "no" it will not be included as it is not part of the IA3 Elsyian Drop Troop TO&E.

If you do not want to teleport your troops in, every unit in the Elysian list is capable of being transported in a Valkyrie.

You are correct, I was referring to the Arvus.  It's a shame - I can't think of any list to really apply it to other than this one.  Would hate to see a model without a home.

Thanks for the answer though.

I think the real problem is that the Arvus is a scenario specific (i.e. Imperial Armor 4) non-combatant vehicle.

The Valkyrie, on the otherhand, is a combat vehicle and is used by the Elysians to perform all sorts of roles, whether combat or not.

I agree with you though, it's a cool looking model. However,  short of someone coming up with a fast delivery role in a Penal Shipping & Receiving brigade, then it's pretty much going to be limited to scenarios.   :/

Thanks, Honda, for the info.  On a somewhat related note I always hear scattered talk about a Pegasus troop carrier (some mammoth thing for the Imperial Guard).  Has this been brought up on any army lists?  Have any stats been made for it?

The reason why I ask is the DRM line have a huge landing craft that IMO would serve well as a Pegasus.  With models available I'd love to see both the Arvus and the Pegasus as part of a list, or at least have some unit stats to include it in a scenario game.

I have heard references to the Pegasus as well, and in fact, I think I have a picture of one that someone scratch-built somewhere.

As far as stats goes, I would expect that the NetEpic crowd might have data (I think they've codified just about everything) that could be used to get you into the right ballpark.

Also as you pointed out, if for scenario play, then you only have to get "close".

I have a question - why no Marauder Bomber ('standard'),  ?

The list has a total of 3 sources of BP - the Valkyries, Lunar, and Emperor.

Standard Marauder Bombers would provide the 'artillery' to the list.  I also think the current Marauder needs a little upgrade - 3 BP per A/C at least.

Also for the Elysians a new Cruiser may add to the lists ability to be competative.  A Gothic with two Pin-Point Attacks instead of the Lunars single.

Another option may be to develop a Marauder variant (Airborne Laser) that carries a MW or even Titan Killer.

Marauder Volcano (Triplex Phall Pattern)
Standard Mauader Stats aside from the Weapons
Weapons
2 x Twin AA Heavy Bolters
Rng 15cm Firepower AA5+ -
1 x Airborne Volcano Cannon
Rng 30cm Firepower MW4+ Titan Killer (D3), Fixed Forward Arc

The weapon is shorter range than a standard Volcano Cannon, is harder to aim (the Aircraft is aimed at the target and has to be kept steady), but still has the impact of a normal Volcano Cannon.

In a list the formation would be 1 Marauder Volcano with 1 or 2 Lightings in escort.  I might add that in a GT game regardless of points the destruction of the Maruader Volcano (not its escorts) results in a BTS victory condition being met by the opposing side.  I have no idea for points other than it should be worth around 500 points (the 2 Lightings being worth 225 and a Tiger Shark AX-1-0 is 225).

The GT rule for the Volcano is not something entirely out of the air.  The Siegemasters have a rule similiar concerning their HQ.  It should also allow a 'traditional' BTS objective as well, being an one or the other.

Since this list is a representation of the Elysians in IA:3, keeping a Marauder Volcano out of the list becomes an easy choice. :)

I would argue that there is space for the Arvus Lighter in the list as a transport for Veterans units (Who often commandeer Arvuses (Arvi?) for their own purposes apparently). It would be an unarmed, lightly armoured transport with the Planetfall ability.
