From perusing the forums it seems a number of views exist on rt. I've been using both the AT5+ at 3BP and MW as AP for some time, though it didn't come up in my last few games either through a heretical lack of BP weapons or only 4BP+ being generated.

Also anyone know what happened to the alternative Barrage rules floated on the old Epic forum?

I liked the AT5+ and MW stuff as a stop gap, but I thought there were ideas to move to something else in the long run? Initially these were a measure to be put in as a quick fix with other ideas considered long term, but both things don't seem to have happened.

I don't really like the MW as AP idea - just another way to kill marine armour but even more so.  We do use the 3BP at AT5 though.

The curent BP system has a lot of problems... I haven't been able to work out a better system myself yet though, nor I have I seen any promising ideas from other people :(

What people still use marine armour? Oh, I presume you are airdropping it on a lander? :)

I think both rulings work well, with maybe 2 exceptions :
- 2 cobras in a formation
- 2 decimator in a formation
The fact is that the BP table is not linear in power, but point costs are ( i.e. : taking 2 cobras does much more than doubling the fire firepower ).
Furthermore, I think that combining ignore cover and TK/MW weapons is a bit too much with the experimental rules.

Thos include the MW hits as AP, I think.

How many cobras did I have...Seems like good idea to bring them all in then

(oh yeah. 3. Maybe I could find another to have 2 pairs vaporising targets. Somebody feeling like bringing AMTL around   :8: ).

The Cobra pair, plus the Black legion MW/BP/Ignore cover I admit are the biggest benificaries!

We use both and haven't had balance problems with either Cobras or Ork MWBP weapons.

Well a majority of fanatical epic players are using the new rules, a least in part.

I'm an ork player, my normal opponent IG - thus he wants the 3BP at 5+ and I want the MWBP as AP... usually we agree to the former only.

I find the problem with the experimental rules is the pick and choose nature... too many things chaning at once.

Also, we use some of them without realising now (the revised assults, that can now stall and not get supporting fire etc. - we use this all the time, but at tournaments people aren't so keen sometimes) as we think they are good.

We agreed once to use all of the rules (which would take too long to list exactly) - so I took lots of gunz mobs with soopa-gunz all starting garrisoned on overwatch in the mid table, hitting in the AP column... my opponent doesn't seem to like the experimental rules anymore.
[disclaimer - that was a long time ago, so I'm sure the experi's have changed since then, cos that was silly]
