Hi!


Saw this thread over at Tau Online, a preview of a new Piranha kit from Forgeworld:




Looks like we could have Rail Rifle, Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle and Fusion Blaster replacements for the wing-mounted Drones, along with a Targeting Array instead of the nose Burst Cannon.

A possible option for the Collectors' Models section:


ALTERNATIVE PIRANHA MAIN WEAPONS ? counts as Piranha

Weapon  Range  Firepower  Notes
Twin-linked Rail Rifles  30cm  AP4+  Disrupt
Smart Missile System  30cm  AP4+  Ignore Cover
Twin-linked Fusion Blasters  15cm  MW4+
Twin-linked Plasma Rifles  45cm  AP4+

Notes: Skimmer. A Piranha can only ever carry a single main weapon type. This may either be the regular Burst Cannon & Gun Drones system, or one of the weapon fits listed above.

If you read the forum that you referenced, it looks like they are going to still have seekers missiles Gary.

I really like the way these look. Pretty cool.

I wrote main weapon type, the Seekers are secondary and wouldn't be affected (Same as with the Hammerheads)

Gary,

Heh - "main" in 40K means Strength 7 or greater. Guess you are talking about seeker missiles as a secondary weapon in this context and referencing the old burst cannon as the main weapon.

Got it. Sorry for being dense. :p

Personally, I am against including these. We have the alternative Hammerheads because FW make the Epic minis. I just dont see the reason to include a weapon variant that adds nothing to the EA list, does not have any minis to use (and even if we did, they would be difficult to tell apart from existing Piranha), and which is not a 'mainstream' option even in 40K.

I hope that this doesnt come across as too harsh.

It is an interesting model, but to me it just looks like they took that teleporter from The Fly, and merged a Piranha and a Tetra together.  ???
