Hey,

If any of you have made your submissions into pdf, get Acrobat Reader to read your fluff aloud... I had it read my Q'orl fluff, and it seemed exactly what one would suspect to hear from an Ordo Xenos logic engine!

I got a reply from Andy on the issue of unsuccessful ships in the competition. He states that these entries will probably be retained by SG. This is a little disappointing, but not surprising. I know how useful it is to have an archive of articles to publish just in case you have a dry week for FOM, and therefore hanging on to these is a fairly sensible thing to do.

This does mean however, that we are unable to publish the entried in Warp Rift, even if submitted by the writer. So, I guess that we will need to run our own competition to generate material... GothiComp06 looks like it could go ahead.

Well, Andy said in the blog 'in the next ten days' in regards to delays and queries and things. Presumably that's 'working days', but if not then it could indicate we could hear things *within* the next two weeks.

Personally I'd have thought we're still unlikely to hear within the next two weeks. I get the impression that, whomever the winner is, they may be keen on trying to 'make it official' with the rest of the studio. From the tales of some of the submissions, I'd guess people have submitted *really* good stuff [except me!], so they may be looking at making these as official as the Planet Killer itself!

Either way, if we hear back within 2 weeks, then I'm pleased with the SG team at not messing about. If it's much more than 2 weeks, it'll be silly, but I think roughly 2 weeks is a good guesstimate.

If the Q'orl fleet gets made by Forge World, I'd be a very happy bunny!

It will depend also on the number of entries.

Congratulations to the two short listed entries in this - Matthew McConnaughey and Michael Pike. Are either of these guys here?

Just the winner left, I guess - which will be next month!

I have to say I'm not that impressed with the Inquisitor one. No pictures of any ship and ridiculous stats.
The slanaesh one has a model and themed fleet, but the pictures show poorly on my pc.

The Slaanesh one is nice and yes, pictures are not so good. Cost wise, it's ok. Comes out cheaper too by 25 points since it has a WM with Ld9 w/ re-roll (100 pts) and Mark of Slaanesh (25 pts) built in, along with CSM bonuses (35 pts).

And yes, I didn't like the Inquisitor one. 305 points addition for an Inquisitor, Ld9 w/ 2 re-rolls (125 pts)+GK rules (35 pts, maybe a bit higher) +Vortex Torp (20 pts)+Apocalypse Cannon (20 pts at least? Maybe 30-40 if using 2D6) which isn't scary unless it rolls using 2D6. Comes out to around 220 at most. Then it has 3 special refits in Motion Targeting Systems, Secondary Reactors AND Overload Capacitors in one package?

Well, it is a Special Character Ship but 485 points for a cruiser is really over for me. It's going to hurt when every ship will focus all their weapons on it to destroy it. :(

Just to clarify, the SG site says that it's "the first of the short listed Battlefleet Gothic Character ship entries". This is already the final 3 right? Or are they showing those that reached the finals?

I agree with the general opinion here. The Slaanesh BC is really good (and the vessel is nice too), but I am less keen on the Inquisitor one (no ship shown, and with many 'special items' added to it as standard, including torpedoes that never run out).

It seems to me that these are the two runners up, and that the winner will be in the next FOM. I think that 'short listed' means that these three were potential first place winners. (Just a guess, though.)

Congratumalations and all to the winners, excellent that they won!

I would say the Slaanesh one is a nice ship...but...Dark Eldar in league with Slaanesh. What!?

I mean, that's about the one thing about the Dark Eldar we know for sure: They abhor slannesh. They fear it. It is the great enemy.

Oh my.

The Inquisition one is interesting, but...there's not much to it.

Oh well. Let's hope the winner was something else...
