I have been able to discover that the Grand Duchy indeed proveded several battalion of jaegers (Light Infantry) to the Imperial amry and that they distinguished themselves well during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. ?There was some later contribution to the Imperial Guard also, but indeed the later Russification nearer the turn of the century saw them all disbanded.

And despite all this searching I cant find any pics of their uniforms!!! ?Now I'm REALLY keen to make the skirmisher units of my Russian Army Finnish. ?Under the Command of the irrepressible Major Mojarn of course, who apart from his military exploits is best known for his penchant to sing the Duchy Anthem while sking naked around the Officers' Accommodation after a Mess Dinner
